The PGA TOUR heads to Scotland this week for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club. This is the third straight year the PGA TOUR will co-sanction the event with the DP World Tour, with around 75 pros from both tours competing. Rory McIlroy returns to defend his title and looks to become the first ever back-to-back winner of the event. The Northern Irishman has claimed T15 or better in his previous six starts on the PGA TOUR, including victory at Quail Hollow two months ago. Xander Schauffele also tees it up this week. The 2022 Scottish Open champion has 11 top-10 finishes in 16 events this year, as well as claiming his first major at the PGA Championship. Collin Morikawa is also in Scotland this week. In seven events since claiming T3 at the Masters, he’s made T16 or better, including T4 at the PGA Championship. He also finished solo third here in 2022 and T6 last year. Others to look out for include Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas.

A sprinkler head gave him the win on 16. His ball was so buried, he went from laying up back into the fairway to a wide open 7 iron to the green for an eagle. Luckiest practice swing of his life

That’s golf. Many times the pros benefit from quirky rules after a wayward shot, drops from car parks, line of sight rulings (tv tower, grandstands) saying nothing of blasting a ball into thick rough, where we would be lost, the pros have an army of spectators on hand to find the ball. Sure he got a great break, but still a fantastic win and the crowd weren’t complaining. 😊

@@whenisasnakeatail4933 that's why i said the rule should be amended so a player cannot improve their lie; one to two club lengths is unnecessary especially due to a sprinkler. a player could simply move the ball a foot or less in any direction and hit the shot. golf rules when taking relief has the wording, "...no closer to the hole..." that wording is their for a reason because being closer to the hole is an advantage. being in the fairway is an advantage than being in the rough. robert when from a 💩y rough to minimal rough; that's an advantage. regardless if it's legal, it's still wrong and contradicts many of the golf association's rules.
