Gotta love the journey Switzerland has made in the last 15 years. As a Hockeyfan i would love to see a player like Ambühl win a title but since i grew up with Swedish Hockey i should probably not say that out loud. 😅

@@Vickzq I was thinking about Bengt-Åke Gustavsson and all the Swedish players and coaches that migrated there in the early '90s. The way the Suiss plays today is very familiar to a Swede where as the way Germans play is more transatlantic. But the reward didnt really come until they had players like Ambühl. Dont know for sure when he started to play for the nationalteam but doubt that it was more then 15 years ago

@@ristorantanen5769 Every step is certainly harder than the one before. And competition is fierce. For football, they had "small success" winning U17 euro and world cup within 20 years of new youth programs. Similar to U18 and U20 joining IIHF WC regularly.

I just don’t see how they would defeat the US or Sweden frankly. Germany got steamrolled 1-8 and 1-6. I don’t think a non big-six nation has ever won the tournament.

@@user-xv8vu4xn7r Sweden is great this year, but I don't agree with US. They lost to Slovakia, and I don't think Slovakia was nearly as good as Switzerland this year. Switzerland only lost to Canada so far and all 3 goals were received in a box play (2 of them during the 5-min penalty)

@@sebastianneff1004 I think if Switzerland can avoid Sweden, they can. Switzerland struggles when they have to play box play, but in 5vs5 they are probably the strongest team in the tournament so far. Most important thing for them to go forward is to stay away from the penalty box.

@@Black4Cook avoiding Sweden will be hard though. They're a scary team this year, and I'd say they're heading right for the finals currently. And Switzerland is playing good so far as well, but they do a lot of silly plays that get them penalties, especially Ambühl

@@sebastianneff1004 Finland-Sweden is always a hard duel, like Switzerland-Germany. Finland was not looking good so far but maybe against Sweden they are able to put up a great performance (similar to the first 2 quarters against Canada) The Ambühl penalty was probably the least stupid one in the Germany game. If Switzerland wants to win, they have to stay out of the penalty box and especially stop risking stupid 5 min penalties in unnecessary situations.

@@iuranescitcuria Ich schau mir Eishockey an, da spielten wir noch gegen die übermächtige Sowjetunion oder ZSKA Moskau+, somit ist die Entwicklung der letzten 10 Jahre für mich schon ein sehr großer Erfolg. Olympiasilber, Vizeweltmeister, zum 5. mal in Folge im Viertelfinale finde ich super. Wir spielen nicht mehr gegen den Abstieg, sondern um das Erreichen des Viertelfinales, ist schon großartig. That first goal in on number 65 for Germany. Man had a wide open net and just stood there frozen like an iceberg with the puck on his stick. As soon as I saw this I knew the Germans had no chance at winning this game. Just no confidence; that's what that was and you can't win with a mindset like that...

Kahun really thought they were the better team, I dont know how this works out if you dont even make it to shoot on the opponents goal or barely, however, it was obvious that the Swiss strategically went into a defensive mode in the third period, I dont like this strategy either, if they proceeded like in an open game they would have scored much higher, but their coach Patrick Fischer is to blame. I remember how aggressively the Swiss dominated, almost degraded their opponents until the end of the game in 2013 before Patrick Fischer took over
