To all the haters you stand in the batters box and face a 100 mph pitch from 2/3s the hardball distance and not crap your undies,I don’t think so. Or play third base position at little over half the distance as in hardball. From the sounds of the talk here you guys have never seen a game because it’s twice as fast as hardball, hitting fielding and pitching. And played at the highest level for free , just the shear love of the game.

Aulukard why are you drawing a moral distinction between the two sports? Who cares what someone plays? That’s their choice not yours. I play neither sport but I’m certainly glad when a person finds passion in either any they choose to play. While baseball is obviously a more difficult sport to master that it no way diminishes the level of skill and talent necessary to play softball at a high level. Your opinion is the same as saying championship level poker players are inferior to championship level chess players merely because chess is a more complicated system. Sure poker is a simpler game, though only a fool would ever claim that top level poker talent is underwhelming. Same for fast pitch softball. Try not to reduce life and the consequential experiences into a dualistic battle between black and white. The universe is construed by shades of grey, infinite shades of grey. Or maybe you’re just a troll. If so, get a grip and find some way to productively project your internal conflict. Why make everyone else pay for your judgmental lack of happiness?

In men’s fast pitch leagues they can hop, not in women’s, apparently they have different rules from women’s, I’ve caught for practices for women fast pitch as I was a helper for the coaches, shits crazy

Softballs are heavier, so naturally they don’t go as far as baseballs. The smaller field makes the game much faster though, so you have to think on your feet more than in baseball.

The answer to the debate is: if these guys were athletic enough to play in the MLB, they would be in the MLB. Look at these “elite” softball players bodies. The way the run, their hitting form. The outfielders inability to throw the ball on a line from the fence to home. As someone who played baseball in college, watching that outfielder triple hop home plate is laughable and anyone trying to debate which one is more difficult doesn’t understand high level baseball.

Brian Davis, It's wise to research before making a bold statement like yours. Baseball evolved from the British game rounders, played by both girls and boys. Softball was first invented in 1887 by MEN, though it came to be seen as a more natural, “safer” and more modest game. The societal sexism and inequality at the time suggested it to be more suitable for women. Men's fastpitch is played worldwide! Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, Denmark, and a lot of Eastern European countries too. I've played baseball competitively for 16 years. Played in college, faced pitchers throwing 95 mph, played against draft picks and elite level university ballplayers. Baseball doesn't have shit on fastpitch softball. Fastpitch is a lot harder man. It's quick and fast-paced with less time to think and react. The bases are closer in FP and the men are just as fast running down the line as in baseball which means less time to field a ground ball and throw it to first not to mention if the batters a lefty that's even less time. Men's pitching mound is 55 ft and baseball is 60 ft 6 inches which are roughly around the same distance. Try to hit off someone throwing 85 mph underhand and the ball rises, yeah you probably can't. You go to other countries and men's indoor volleyball is played more by men than women as with fastpitch softball. The only reason why it's not as popular in the US is that men are too insecure about being called effeminate and play a sport called ”SOFT-ball, ” that's stupid and ignorant. It's just a game. Have fun and that's it. Why bring sexism and gender roles into it?
