@Short Spoon Coast Guard is Department of Homeland Security. When they say the Coast Guard isn't the military branch they sort of mean it.
@StevenTheAristolianNerd3 жыл бұрын
@Short Spoon well you said Coast Guard and I felt the need to clarify. I hope I didn't come off as abrasive but off of technicality they serve kind of like a weird dual-purpose. There were times where Coast Guard was activated as navy that can still happen should the need arise.

But they seem to be more of a police force that works with the DEA and Border Patrol.

ive actually played with a coastie before. he always laughed at how people think the coast guard is like a little puppy compared to the other branches. he explained the rigorous boot camp and the fact that the coast guard is really the only branch always facing danger. this guy works on one of the cutters instead of a patrol boat, and therefore has a lot of knowledge and skill with close quarters work which usually the maritime response teams specialize in. ive also played with a few soldiers and a marine once, and i could conclude (from comparing the games the best way i could) that the coastie was definitely more perceptive and sharp with being up-close and personal. thats not saying the army, marines or any other branch isnt the best at what they do, but it definitely proved to me that the coast guard is pretty cool compared to how some people make them out to be.
@SideWays8Productions3 жыл бұрын
Coast guard is about the only branch that trains for what they do and actually does what they train for. Every other branch trains for the last war and ends up fighting the next war. A friend of mine in the local car scene has half a dozen gunfights under his belt in the coast guard, all of which were in the western hemisphere not more than a few hours from where he lives.
@GeorgeThoughts3 жыл бұрын
Such a crazy different mission to our UK Coastguard haha! US Coastguard is like the military with similar training, but UK Coastguard is purely a fishing/boating regulations enforcer and, primarily, a search and technical rescue agency. There are zero firearms and zero boot-camps in UK Coastguard. We just use the Navy for coastal defence. I'm surprised the US needs yet another highly militarised defence force?

every branch has their specialties and modern warfare is about combined arms/ forces who each compliment each other's strengths and cover off their weaknesses. I play in the uk, not met any active duty or retired soldiers on the field yet so I dont know if I am lucky or unlucky, but it would be nice to learn a thing or two from them.

Had a whole squad of military at Copperhead. Myself, combat Marine veteran, and 6 Airmen active duty. I got into airsofting to keep myself sharp in my old age (I'm about twice the age of the average player), try out new kit/gear, and meet like-minded individuals. It's motivating to see the enthusiasm the young players have towards improving their skills.

We had 4 former military in our squad, two combat Marines, Airforce and Army and one more just starting his Marine life in a month or so. The rest are older civvies who Pew Pew pretty darn well. LOL! I myself am 56 years old and play the game to stay sharp and just have some fun! We had a great time at this game as well! At one point it was Jets squad on Sunday blowing us up. LOL! They used so many grenades to take us out. That battle for that house took about an hour and a half. In the end they took the house but spent so much on that pyro!

I had a "stingy flying bastard" incident recently at an event I was marshalling... Two really new players who are quite young rolled up and over a wasp nest. The wasps came out in force, I heard what I thought was "two young girls screaming for help" from a fair distance. I called for the other staff over comms and ran for the source of the screaming, two young lads covered in wasps. It was a crazy moment of batting wasps off these kids and getting everyone out of the way. They had some killer stings but they were fine afterwards!

From a British perspective it's surreal seeing airsoft taken so seriously in the US and talk of "real steel" value.
