I actually caught my first chrowt at that exact spot on the penny pack! Straight down the trail to left by the rock wall and deep hole!

I've had the same experience, telling my friends "Expect 20-30+ people fishing all over, it was stocked a few days ago and is always packed for the first few weeks" We get to the spot right before the sun comes up, not a single person fishing! We were getting 12-13 inch rainbows every cast and didn't see the first people show up until after 3-4PM, must have pulled out over 100 bows that day haha but they're just fresh stockies, no challenge in getting them to bite!

Could not get out on opening day in NY as I had to work. I was able to go Trout fishing on Saturday and got my 5 fish limit for the first time ever. Learned a lot watching you over the years

I remember 1 new years day the wind chill was - 40 i dressed up & went.. I went to a place you can't get to opening day .Saxon Falls. Nobody there. 20 mins i had 6.. Brought them to a friend in town and went back another 20 minutes. Got 6 more then went by my buddy & got all them to make my hour+ drive home. I was home in time to make breakfast. Great super short day, relaxed, didn't cross 1 line, constant action,and the drive home had no traffic as News Years day people tend to sleep late. Nut our stockies (haven't gone 10 years) used to be sad between 8 & 10 inches. If you got a 12 or 14 he was held over.

Though it isn't opening trout, I found a good place right behind my house where the trout school up every night. It can be hit or miss, but on good days you can catch 20-30 trout on cast masters or spoons. Its very fun and the trout all live happily ever after too, single barb-less hook works best for catch and release!

opening of trout season is always awesome. The biggest thing that sucks in Georgia is that everyone gets a limit and another limit. you can usually tell if the double limit guy has hit the area if there are multiple corn cans laying around. Not enough dnr to go around down here to check everyone. I think we need heavier trout regulations in Georgia

Thats so awesome!!! Bravo! I went fishing three times this past weekend but I did not get any bite. I gotta say this was my first time participating in the first day and also trying for trout, I tried spinners. I didn't see anybody with trouts (just lakes)... just one guy in one lake at the end of the day got three in the other side! Aargh! Just at the end, I had to leave... Also it was in an area that said private property no fishing (guessing for avoiding thousands of people standing in the grass they maintain $$$)... but if I use waders and get inside the water like someone in a kayak (which I have seen) then it will be okay? 👌👀🎣. He got three with spinners in like 15min! 😮 I also saw other three guys in the end fishing there too... Mmm🤔🤨

I caught my limit in about 2 hours in a local pond they stock where I am at. I caught 3 on powerbait and caught the 2 biggest on master master spoon in gold. Biggest one was 2 3/4 pounds and 19 inches long.
