Nothing like a little bit retro fishing. The only two things you were missing was cane pole and a red Hills Brothers coffee can.

Little bit of a tip here! if you put your worm on the hook make sure it is on there all the way and the worm is not dangling at all, because the trout will sometimes bite the tiny ends and rip your whole worm off!
@misternasty2216 Жыл бұрын
You want the worm to dangle so it can move.
@igyboo Жыл бұрын
@@misternasty2216still should have the worm pierced at least 3 times. It will move, I do it.

A nice job well done on catching these beauties and there's no question about it either. Also that's a nice area, for sure it is. Yeah, I use to use worms but then I got tired of always catching little sunnies and bluegills. If I'm going to use worms, they're going to be Berkley powerbait worms or pautzke fireworms. Both are great to use but pautzke it's a little bit more stronger of a smell. Great video for sure

My youngest brother Jeremiah loves fishing 🎣. He usually fishes with corn 🌽, though.
@Auditing.northern.N.Y.6 ай бұрын
Corn works great for freshly stocked trout. My go to is a spinner with a piece of worm on the treble hook for bigger wild trout. Only downfall other than snags is, you gotta cast down stream.

That Brookie you caught at the end was what I consider to be a bonus. They're all beautiful, though, and there's nothing like Broiled Trout for Dinner! As for your side dishes, to go with your Trout, some mashed 'taters, corn, and green beans, with some sweet milk and water. Or you can substitute tea for milk...or even lemonade! It's all good!!!

Man, good fishing, but the brook trout looked like it was wild, I would have it let go back in........one thing is to catch stocked trout another one is when you find wild ones......those should be released in my opinion to help the species!

Helpful hint. Use nightcrawlwrs instead of the Red Worms. Use half a crawler and thread it on your hook. Best of all worlds. Scent trail by breaking them in half and natural straight presentation. They also hook themselves more readily due to straight presentation. Take it from a 30 year Trout Guide. Day in day out there is no better bait than A live crawler. Red Worms will work and good video but give crawlers a try. You'll be HOOKED. pun intended 😀
@mikebrown22742 жыл бұрын
Just used half a night crawler to catch a bunch of catties on lake greenwood in South Carolina the other week on vacation. My friends struck out using chicken liver, hot dogs, power bait. You definitely know what you’re talking about!
@teresajarman22362 жыл бұрын
i always use nightcrawlers in Colorado... and i inflate them... use whole worm with sliding weight...1.5 foot leader .. caught 4 lb 20 inch german brown last month
@bjnelson94902 жыл бұрын
@@teresajarman2236 I've inflated the whole ones in the past while fishing lakes. Never needed to in streams. Just use half, roughly 2.5 inches and that's sweet spot for 95% of them. If I know there's a bruiser around I'll go with whole one. Caught them up to 8 lbs on half one. You can't beat a nightcrawler day in and day out

Great video, as usual! Hey Fish Hawk, if you would pin those fish through the lip with that stringer, as opposed to through the gills, they would stay lively and swimming all day, not die within minutes. Tight lines!
@BornIn15002 жыл бұрын
You just have to make sure they're spread out on that stringer and not in a big bunch. They'll live just fine for a long time stringing them through the gills. I've done it many times.

Brookie was a nice catch. The others all looked like stockies which is fine but not the brightest fish n the creek. Surprised you didn't fis closer to where the flow came into the pond. The heavy eaters I find there. Also to let bait lay on bottom doesn;t work as well for me as just letting bait move with stream and bump along bottom. Good video for sure.

The old #10 pink nighty strikes again! The only reason fly fishermen despise worm downers is because they hate doing things "properly, wearing all the silly fly fishing gear, a thousand dollar rod/reel combo, 400dollar waders, size 20 this, size 24 that, all the entomology that goes with it," and being bested by a 8year old kid with a 10dollar cane pole and a coffee can of worms. They simply just work better than anything. Use a size 6 circle hook and you don't have fish getting gut hooked hardly ever.
