You're right about the Age 😂 Mister De Ruiter got way back when it only was a local store in a small city, complaints from some older women and decided to create Gestampte Muisjes. = Crushed mice. The name mice came from the little tail which the anise have. And this is not a joke 😊

If you crumble the bastogne and mix it with cream cheese. Then make little balls, put them on a tray with a little stick in it, then in the freezer. When they are frozen, dip them into chocolate (explains the stick), and you have truffels. Also good with oreo cookies

Anise, Fennel and Licorice all have a similar flavor and taste. This is why youthink licorice with the Muisjes (Little Mice) as they are anise seeds covered in sugar. I understand why the Bastogne is in there but Lu is actually French (Lu stands for Lefèvre-Utile), Bastogne is a French region. The company started in 1883 in Nantes France. By now the company has procured brand names from French, Belgian and Dutch origin. One of the Dutch examples would be Liga. I haven't eaten Cocosbrood (coconut bread) in years, waaaay to sweet for my taste. I also don't really like the "hard" texture. Gevulde Speculaas is the best kind of Speculaas. Seems like I need to try that "Amaretto" (I am a "smoker" mot a drinker if you know what I mean) Not sure what is Dutch about the eyeball thingy, they are from Trolli, a German brand. Jelibon is Turkish
