1968 is my favorite year for Chevelles, those taillights are the best looking of any year.

Back in 81 I traded a 66 Impala convertible for a 69 Chevelle. The 396 had been replaced with a SB 400. Had those wheels. Its the one car I wished I had kept.

That side stripe is supposed to continue forward on the front fender , pand angle upwards , before running across the front edge of the car . The 5 spoke wheels and painted headlight bezels are from a ' 69 Chevelle . Aluminum heads were most certainly available on a 1968 L-78 Super Sport , ever hear of RPO L-89 ?

The 68-69 are my favorite Chevelle body style. They just look aggressive all the way around. Especially the front end. A Dream Car, but not in yellow.
@zephead4835Ай бұрын
Wheelbase is a little smaller on the 68 through 72 as opposed to the 66 and 67.😮
@sombra6153Ай бұрын
Some worked and some didn’t. They varied in quality but none would be considered good. I remember a .22 short version that misfired every other round, and the ones that did fire couldn’t hit a can three feet away. I have a 66 that my dad recovered from the trash can of a police range. It broke and the owner took it apart, couldn’t fix it, and threw it away. The cylinder won’t lock up. Even if there were parts available, the barrel is loose in the threads and I wouldn’t shoot it. It’s a conversation piece
@flyntmyrick6291Ай бұрын
Steve, I disagree; factory A/C is great! It may be fine for you in the northeast USA but in the south, we have a lot of heat and humidity and the A/C is very desirable!
@swwy5Ай бұрын
I certainly don't like to contradict an automotive expert such as Steve Magnante, but 1970 Chevelles had 14 inch wheels from the factory. I purchased one new in January, 1970. I do enjoy Steve's car reviews. I would like to see a 1971 Oldsmoble Cutlass Supreme SX
@FrankStein1Ай бұрын
You could order 15 inch but AMC is the only manufacturer in 1970 that had standard 15 inch offered . Of course that was on The Machine.
@bobtileyАй бұрын
Yes 71 and 72 got the 5 spoke 15” wheels.
@goratgo1970Ай бұрын
@@FrankStein1 There was also Buick GSX (perhaps also Olds 442 but too lazy to lookit up) in 1970 as far as GM A body, but 15" steel didn't mount on Chevelle until 1971 as the Camaro wheel. Too bad, as I think it would've made a difference for the LS6.
@FrankStein1Ай бұрын
@@goratgo1970 it was ordered . It wasn't standard packaging . AMC WAS the only manufacturer in 1970 that put 15 inch wheels on a myscle car that wasn't special order. It was standard.
