In 2009 I bought one of the very first Abarths a 500 esseesse. After a Porsche 911 - the Abarth was much more fun (and more reliable!). I had a short shift gear change from Selspeed fitted and I can recommend this upgrade, you get a much faster and neater gear change. I have owned many different cars and can honestly say 'these are great little cars' 👍

This is proof Matt does secretly know what he’s doing. Winter is a great time to buy a convertible, and Spring is a good time to sell a convertible, so when (if) Spring hits, it should be decent profit. What is it with Automotive KZbinrs and Abarth 595’s at the moment? This is the third video on one recently!

Saying that your right. I did sell a convertible last Jan or Feb. Guys came from France to look for a convertible and sold it within a day. Fantastic to finally see you in an abarth 595 at last matt, I've owned one for 3 years and done many mods to it including wheels, suspension, exhaust, re map and carbon fiber body parts. Ok it's only a 1.4 litre but it's such fun to drive and always excites getting behind the wheel. Although made in poland mine is my small red italian sports car. I love my abarth 595.

@@patchrick6776 100% - it's definitely one of the things that holds it back as a 'daily'. I recently hired a Fiat 500, not the Abarth model, & even with the 998cc engine, it was still a lot of fun to drive! The manual gearbox was great to use & I loved the fact the car came with a mechanical handbrake. Storage space in the boot was bigger than the model featured in the video, so I think it's a great little car! 👍👍

Its obvious this Abarth is egging you on as you drive it!! I once had a 500 Sport Twin-Air with 16" alloys, a sporty bodykit and some go-faster decals plus an Abarth-style steering wheel, chrome gearknob and half-leather sports seats - basically it had an air of "Abarth-lite" about it and I absolutely loved it. On paper its 0-60mph was something like 10.5 seconds but somehow it felt much faster with its light body and grippy rubber, plus if you've driven the Twin-Air engine you'll know what a fantastic noise it makes. I remember constantly seeking excuses to go and drive it... If I didn't need a 5-door car as I do nowadays I'dve definitely looked to upgrading to the Abarth... Great to see this one didn't twist your arm into another overspend! 👍

Nokian tyres: "Better", i.e. less worn tyres should be fitted as rear tyres, mainly for safety reasons. With more tread on the rear axle, it is easier to avoid oversteer, i.e. the rear end coming off the road. In challenging situations, the risk of oversteer is more dangerous than understeer.

It's actually my wife's car that I decided to use for about 2 months, which turned into 4 and now 6 months on I've got a grumpy wife because I don't want to hand it back. In all fairness she loves driving my car so it's all good. I get around 6.5 l/100 km driving it like a granny in the city and some highway. It's hard to not drive it enthusiastically because it's always egging me on. It is a lot of fun to drive. Yes I agree a little bit choppy and reminds me of a go-kart but I love it. It's nippy but feels a lot faster and you often find much faster cars wanting to have a go. You always end up with a smile on your face whilst driving it, and I keep on thinking how nice it looks each time I get behind the wheel. Only thing I miss is cruise control for those 80 km drives between cities, but I also understand why it hasn't got it. Great buy and glad you didn't need to overspend for once, but I kind of expected it. They are super reliable.

You truly are a changed man Matt, I'm pretty sure you never liked hot hatches! Cracking little car though!

Think you have mentioned grenlander in the past but can't remember when. The car looks amazing, some great stock for your forecourt.

Hi Matt , that's a nice little pocket rocket, I remember Richard Hammond reviewed one on top gear, this one is the later version though, I know it's a fun little car to drive though I don't think I would be comfortable in one as I am a tall person, I have seen the normal little hatch non convertible here. It is a cheeky little thing though.
