The fact it has chain does not mean it does not have to be changed. It only says that if you keep on top of your regular oil changes and sometimes after long intervals you check if your chain is not stretched further than it suppose to (it rattles) it is ok. The state of this car took my mind back to my first car. Previously owned by a farmer. Boot half full of straw and filthy dirty everywhere. Trade sale from a llocal car sales pitch for the princely sum of £500. That was in 1981. It was a 1976 Ford Cortina mk3 2.0 GT. Here they came with the a 2.2 i4, a 2.4 hybrid i4, a 3.0 v6, and a 3.5 v6 for the first gen. We never got the diesel here. They also came with a honda sourced 5-speed auto. The only engine change for the second gen was the addition of a 3.6 vvt v6. The Chevy version was mainly sold as a fleet vehicle. I feel that the design has held up pretty nice and doesn't look as old as it is.

Great result on this one! Pretty straightforward going, I think there's soon a new owner for this, the mileage not too high and technically in pretty good shape.

Well you got me there Matt. The first car that I never even heard of, or knew existed! Even the Ssanyong Tivoli I'd seen a few of knocking about. Not a bad looking motor to be fair. Cleaned up well too! I understand that in certain environments it's difficult to keep a car clean, but Jesus when you're trading it in, spend a few bob getting it clean, or a couple of hours yourself. I could never hand a car over in that state!

I’m a horsey person and I’m in my car day in day out for work too. It can get pretty grubby on the inside with hay, horse poo, sand, stones etc. but it’s cleaned at least once a month, or when I’m taking passengers, and an hour later when it’s done it has that new car smell and looks brand new. For a 190k 7 year old Passat, use them to fulfil their purpose but also look after them. You might use a coffee mug 2-3 times per day without washing it ‘properly’ but you wouldn’t use it for 2-3 months without washing it!

I don't think this car had ever been cleaned and there is absolutely no excuse.

I think this is what we in Australia call a Holden Captiva. They are cheap Korean-built cars but ideal as shopping trollies or for taking the kids to school. Not exactly the sort of car you would look at your reflection in the British Home Store front window and I can't imagine towing a caravan with one. It was in a disgusting state inside but the car detailer and the upholstery guy transformed it into what looks to be an honest runabout for someone. I imagine this would sell easily in the UK.

I never understand the argument that if you’ve got kids then it’s ok to have a car like a dust bin. Don’t feed the kids in the car or if you do make them clean it up after! Yes, I also have no kids 😂 Nerdy fact: Tog24 are an outdoor clothing retailer that used to design and make their clothes near me, in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. Sadly they now make the stuff abroad. Great video as always 👍🏻

Brilliant transformation, you took a pig's ear and turned it into a silk purse and you've priced it pretty cheaply in my opinion, this will do someone a good service for a few good years

Unfortunatley some of us can't ponce around all day in posh motors, we use them as work horses throwing tools and equipment or whatever to get the work done,
