My sister works with horses on a farm and with the amount of filthy muddy stuff she has to carry around, I understand why she doesn’t clean it often (or ever), it’s a constant losing battle. My cars immaculate I can’t stand dirt, but in the farming line of work, I understand why it’s easier not to bother. That doesn’t excuse trading it in like that though

Ive always thought that used car salespeople where a little bit greedy. After watching these videos and the grief of sorting stuff out and going back and forth various trades, i take back my previous misconception that ALL used car sales people were a bit dodgy. I had a sneaky feeling this would clean up well. Just a lot of surface grime rather than damage, you could tell the previous owner had actually looked after it. My sister works on a farm with horses and the amount of dirt that gets in there, I do understand why you’re fighting a losing battle keeping it clean. So in that line of work it’s just easier not to bother

I had a Chevrolet Captiva (got it brand new) year 2012 with the 2.5 lt. engine and automatic transmission. Sold it in 2022 with very low mileage. I only got one minor issue with an oxigen sensor (replaced) and a battery. Other than that , gave it the routine maintenance and never gave any troubles at all. My opinion (personally) a fine car.

Had a 63 plate Antara 4x4 Nav +. Kept it for 6 months. Terrible drive, terrible fuel consumption and just horrible. Top info screen wound me up as well. Didn’t loose cash on it but lessons learned!

Not surprised at the filth in some cars. Used to live by an infant/primary school. Every day when I walked past at opening or closing times, I couldn't help but notice the disgusting state of some parents cars - rubbish left to rot in footwells. I can only assume the kids where being acclimatised to the germs.

The fact it has chain does not mean it does not have to be changed. It only says that if you keep on top of your regular oil changes and sometimes after long intervals you check if your chain is not stretched further than it suppose to (it rattles) it is ok. Quite a few cars have chain and still chain goes kaboom...Peugeot RCZ being one of them because size of that chain is same as in BMX bike...

I don’t think anyone knows about that more than Matt, he’s had to do plenty of them. I’d rather have a belt tbh, they’re easier and cheaper to replace in most cases, and once that job is done you’re good for another 80-100k usually, you know where you stand

Timely video, I was just looking at one of these. I have the same drivetrain in a Chevrolet Orlando and (touch wood) it’s been great as it clicks over 240,000km The engine is a different unit to the more common 2.0 GM diesel that you see in the Insignia I think, although it has the same output. Best of luck with the sale.

My first car was a Chevette and I’ve never had any desire to own a Vauxhall since! I was once given a Buick somethingorother as a rental in the States…and immediately asked to swap it as it was just a rebadged Mokka 🤮. That said…£4k for a relatively low mileage 4x4 will suit someone I’m sure. Another great transformation & entertaining as always 👍

We had these in North America as the Saturn Vue (second gen) and the Chevy Captiva. Overall they seem to be good cars. Here they came with the a 2.2 i4, a 2.4 hybrid i4, a 3.0 v6, and a 3.5 v6 for the first gen. We never got the diesel here. They also came with a honda sourced 5-speed auto. The only engine change for the second gen was the addition of a 3.6 vvt v6. The Chevy version was mainly sold as a fleet vehicle. I feel that the design has held up pretty nice and doesn't look as old as it is.

Great review Matt, I have one of these a White Antara Diamond 2WD,the 4x4 does have quite high running costs, I call mine the "Antara Anonymous", try finding it in a supermarket car park full of white SUV'S 😊, A plus point being they are well specc'd, however the ride quality is abysmal, but as a family car the Antara Anonymous does it's job OK & are currently good value for money. 👍

Love this channel but whenever im buying a newer car i try to haggle as you do. I always say but look at the way ive maintained my car, carpet, seats etc nice and clean and all they do is look out the window and say "yeah but this car value book thingy says its only worth so much"..... my point is cleaning it up makes no difference in my experience. Spending 100 quid on a valet would be a waste of time and add sod all to the value - unless you sell it privately. I had a Chevy Captiva 2.2 from the same year. IMHO the car looked much better than the Antara but parts started to become an issue. Was a great tow car but quite thirsty.

Well you got me there Matt. The first car that I never even heard of, or knew existed! Even the Ssanyong Tivoli I'd seen a few of knocking about. Not a bad looking motor to be fair. Cleaned up well too! I understand that in certain environments it's difficult to keep a car clean, but Jesus when you're trading it in, spend a few bob getting it clean, or a couple of hours yourself. I could never hand a car over in that state!
