@@michaelmccann4706 Loads of lady's don't see how much work car showroom workers put in. They think it's run smoothly like a Tesco's store. Car business is manic. Because cars look so well produced with the branding and advertising and sheer finish of such a marvel people's expectations are high but they don't know how much work goes into preparing them for customers. Especially if the dealer is actually any good. The lady's in my family thought my job was a doss about for years just because it was cars I was working with until they started to see how much work we do. They thought it was some joke thing until they see the real levels and standards on TV and KZbin. People will put up with Josie developments because they accept it's a messy hard job. They don't give that same respect to car showroom workers. As car showroom workers we have to stand by our cars and there is no I can wait for it to get fixed like a house job. Brilliant, I had one (Mrs has it now) the same a white 2.0 TDI but mine was DSG and full leather, nav etc. The dreaded VW bong of doom i have worked out, between tyres going flat, random phantom canbus bulb out warnings, ABS or pad wear sensors and actual faults - its £150 per bong. But keep it on good fuel, regular oil and filter changes (And DSG every 20 - 30k) they are really reliable and go well. The water / sills are standard and easily sorted, same with the boot area and vents clogged up. all simple stuff. One item to bear in mind for any 2.0 DSG owner is if the temp is low - it WILL be the thermostat in the gearbox and not the thermostat on the engine. Ignore at your peril, or the motors take 50 miles to warm up and we all know where this is going ref EGR and DPF clogging. . . . . Anyway i bet you will get that all day long Matt, they are desirable especially in white and actually really good cars for a Mk6 golf.

What plant cures stinging nettles? Dock leaves and stinging nettles grow in similar habitats. There are a few theories as to why dock leaves appear to help nettle stings. The most plausible are: the cooling sensation of the sap evaporating from the affected skin can relieve some of the stinging sensation.

I had a 1.6tdi version of this in grey and can confirm the sills probably need emptying from the drain plugs, bit of a design flaw. The other thing I noticed in your video was the bloody noise the windows used to make going up and down, my wife used to be so embarrassed to operate the roof in case the neighbours heard the window squeaks 😂. Mine needed an egr valve at 60k miles but apart from that was solid.
@Mariazellerbahn
@Mariazellerbahn 5 ай бұрын
My Vauxhall GTC collects water in the doors. The window seals let water in and a design fault doesn't let it escape. The doors are raked forward with the lowest part of the doors at the front but the drain holes are at the rear. Not a problem when being used, as centrifugal force pushes the water out but my car stands idle for weeks at a time. I don't really need a car but on rare occasions, it does come in handy.

I worked at a vw dealership when them Eos came out initially they flew out the doors, then about 6 months later they started coming back and the roof seals have all gone hard and started to leak. Even bigger issue was there was alot of electronics under the carpet and they got ruined by the leaking roof so all the interior had to come out. Once the warranty was up I couldn't imagine the cost of repairing them as it was massively labour intensive. Funny how it's so rare to see an Eos on the road because they have nearly all been scrapped terrible design.

Had to bite the bullet though as a 21 year old 2003 mk2 Honda CRV(your colleague bought it from us,as all the work was carried out by PCH) it was working out at £2k a year in repairs etc. only had it two years as it was our first car and upgraded if you call it that to a newer 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and my better half hates it. So once our two year warranty runs out we’ll be looking for a change. Maybe go back to a newer CRV or RAV4 and if money can stretch to a Lexus that could also be our next buy.

@nigel.w

I think you have to try and put yourself in the position of someone with tens of millions of pounds. Several hundred grand on a car isn't that much in that context. It is also maybe worth pointing out that you can easily exceed 200 grand when spec'ing a Range Rover, even a Range Rover Sport SVR, so what's another couple of hundred grand for the best? Alternatively, you could be spec'ing up your new Range Rover while noting you can get a gently used Cullinan for not much more, and noting that used Cullinans are holding their prices much better than new Range Rovers, even used Range Rovers. A used Cullinan is arguably one of the safer cars to put your money into.

@@gileshalliwell3591 Very much each to their own! I think it's worth noting that your average Cullinan owner has a large car collection. And they may or may not be shouting about their wealth as they see it. Appreciating quality, appreciating the engineering, wanting the best for yourself if you can afford it, does not necessarily mean you are shouting about your wealth. You may be, many people will be, and certainly many people will have that perception of you, but it's not necessarily the case. And you don't have to spend anywhere near the 190 grand plus you need to spend on a Cullinan to have people giving you the finger. A 40 grand Bentley will get similar reactions, and that's a very different level of wealth on display; in fact, no more than what you'd pay for a fairly ordinary new car. Anyway, I think there's generally a difference between old money and new money. Most old money people I know will buy a quality car a year or two old, after the new buyer has suffered the biggest hit in depreciation, then they fastidiously maintain it and run it for 10-20 years, or until it dies, and then do it again. Others, as you say, will even appear as if they haven't got a bean. Whereas new money people do generally seem to need to show off their wealth. Of course, there are plenty of old money people happy to show they've got money and plenty of new money people who are modest or don't want to make their friends and family feel uncomfortable. FWLIW, if a Cullinan would fit my lifestyle I could see myself owning one. In my mind it evokes a certain Edwardian charm that I like. Of course, it's generally too large for British roads, and if you don't have a chauffeur or you don't have valet parking everywhere you go, you'd have to worry about the criminal damage so many people seem disposed to when they see such a car parked. Yes, my tastes are indeed questionable. I like cars most people don't -- although I also like many cars most other car enthusiasts like. I like 90's-style nitro beers, sweet German white wine the locals don't drink, and have a penchant for disco music, particularly the Bee Gees.

That water sloshing sound was the same as I had in my 2018 4 series convertible. Water was running down the windows (in my case driver rear) and not emptying via the channels as they were block by the side skirts! I fist thought it must have been my flasks in the rear footwell that I take to work, then it dawned on me that they were empty upon my return 😮I have a video of it gushing out once I’d clear the blockage. Nothing too sinister chap 👍

What I discovered that small cars not great as convertibles due to added weight .Had Volvo C70 T5 and it felt very heavy and currently have Citroen DS3 THP cabrio .Its not real cabrio as just middle bit comes of but I think that’s the way to go for small cars. Much less added weight/less body roll.

Hi Matt - thanks for the great videos and entertaining comment, surely the time is now for a major HPA Netflix or Amazon Prime series 😀! Quick thought, I grew up in sunny Romiley and my old primary school was just across the road from your garage - I passed it everyday in the '70s and it was a garage then. I moved south in the late 80's and only make fleeting visits back. On a recent visit whilst driving through Romiley I was lookig out for the HPA signs as I passed the garage - nowhere to be seen 😬 - with all the brilliant brand-building work you are doing online Matt, a bit of a HPA makeover for the garage signage would work wonders 💥 and as the advertising w*nke*rs say, 'synergises your comms'. Keep up the great work Matt, ATB Deano

Spit on a docking leaf for nettle stings ! Why do people buy diesel convertibles ? I want to hear a nice fruity exhaust note when my roof is down. Enjoyed the video ❤

I agree, I am not a fan of the EOS. When VW introduced the EOS, they lost the plot, considering the VW Golf convertible was one of the most successful convertible and affordable cars on the UK market for years, VW try a different take. I owned a 1991 1.8 Karmann convertible, I loved it, solid with a power hood too, and one of the few cars I owned for the longest time, plus, the car held its value too. As ever Matt, you did what was needed to this car to make it desirable, you didn't go in blind, you knew money needed to be spent. What a great price, £180 to have the diamond cut alloys refurbished, I paid double this for normal alloy refurb in Sussex 😞, and my BMW needs the diamond cut alloys addressed before selling (ouch), which I inherited 98% of the damage, oh well, deep breath.
