I’m 44 and recently went on a first date. We walked around a (very cool) cemetery and she made dinner. I had been done with dating for over a decade. She sings in a choir that I play piano for, and she asked me out. We have our fourth date this Friday.

@@CheifChef maybe lets not associate men in makeup as gross this leads to typical hate crime against most typically homosexual men , as a pansexual woman I feel like I have to stick up for this , nothing is wrong with the makeup , what was wrong was his vibe and what he said , who says stuff like that. Also there is makeup setting hacks where when y'all make out the makeup wouldn't smear , this is a silly thought to me as us girls wear a ton of makeup and most of the time if we are doing it right , it doesn't come off on the man . much love and peace , this is more a psa for anyone else who came under this thread . but yes genuinely I agree that man was scary , I watch a lot of true crime and that was the most red flag red flag I have ever seen , literally poor girl looked terrified .There have been murders and rapes from shows like this back in the day , I hope the show creators are aware of what a dangerous situation they can foster and protect those involved . Yeah... It's because people are all too aware of how easily they can be misled and how easy it is to fall for a person only to find yourself eyeballs deep in THEIR traumas and failing to cope. It's not about getting to know someone, its about shortening the wasted time... If you hear right out of the gate that they have some deep trauma around x, y, z and that those things are things you require in your life, you'll know immediately that this person doesn't fit your life and that you are incompatible. Sadly, it's literally about not wasting time on people you won't get on with. If your traumas are not compatible, then nothing else will be either... That, and there are people who just don't want to deal with other people's traumas and want to know RIGHT away if you're worth their time - if you say a trauma that they don't want ot deal with, they can just walk away immediately, no more wasted time. This is EXACTLY why I would just die alone if I hadn't found someone over 15 years ago. :|

I’m afraid that sex Ed also isn’t really implicated. A lot of parents find it to awkward but at schools it is to surface level. It is awkward but also the awkward conversations have to happen, otherwise it can have bad consequences 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@user-fi3tw1ev4k I’m from the US. My Sex Ed class was taught by a gym teacher who tried to argue that the reason cost of living is going up is because women are allowed in the workplace. He also had a daughter in our grade at the school, so he spent a good portion of class lamenting about the possibility of her becoming sexually active and what he’d do to the guy who touched his little girl. And he fear mongered about drugs. Mind you, I live in a pretty progressive area of the country. I can only imagine what it looks like in conservative areas. @@Im_here411 then it's clear there needs to be some form of balance. I'm conservative leaning myself but do understand teens need to be taught safety and not be scared into submission. Although your gym teacher sounds like a rather paranoid republican I think fear mongering round drugs is a good thing. As a 34 y/o f, dating as a teen was easier than trying to date in my 20s. You had school and college to force you with a bunch of other people so you're more likely to find someone you share interests with. In my 20s I just had my job to meet people because there was no way in hell I was going out. I tried apps, no dice. In 2022 I met my husband in a MENTAL HOSPITAL because we just so happened to have a mental breakdown at the same time. We lived in different areas of the state so we would never have met any other way. There's something to be said about groups of people forced together for higher purpose to find someone. I think the biggest issue with dating today is how many people talk about having and wanting someone with emotional intelligence and being emotionally healed when entering a new relationship but not actually understanding what that entails. Before meeting my current boyfriend, I dated a few problematic men who would preach these things and yet were a massive mess of dysfunction. And if you called this to their attention they would just flip it and act like I was the problem. No sense of accountability or self awareness. Considering I've been in a healthy and happy relationship for a while now and seeing the difference between how I was once treated to how I am treated by my current partner its safe to say the problem wasnt me. I feel sorry for anyone who has done the work and is ready for a healthy relationship..because seeing how many people truly arent capable is just sad. Seek therapy for your traumas. Or you will only be a burden to anyone you date.

If it helps, I'm 30 years old and all my dates ended in less than a week. I kept getting rejected for reasons like "you're not mature enough", or "you're not rich enough". Have been talking to a girl for the past 2 years and she seems like a good person, hopefully it will work out. Finding a good person that also wants what's best for you is almost impossible. Since most of the women I encountered were shallow and wanted to profit off of me, I expect the male side to be no different. You just have to keep searching through the mud for a gemstone and hopefully get lucky.

Another theory, young people never exposed to actual socialization irl to learn what is appropriate and what isn’t and what is healthy boundaries and respect. They get all their learning from brain rot tik tok, as a result, comes off rude, creepy, hurtful, sociopathic, narcissistic.😢

@@RONANAWAY this is very, true. for me i was going into middle school when pandemic hit, i was always a very talkative kid, but while the pandemic happened i ended up developing social anxiety. when it was time to go back to regular school and socialize i was in 7th grade going to 8th, i noticed me any many other kids were changed, it became extremely harder to socialize not to mention the fact that while we were in the pandemic we were basically attached to our devices. it really stunted us as a generation, and the signs are very clear when i go out.
