There is nothing that can be done about this. Billy said the word "attrition" immediately following the season. This is the CFB reality for the foreseeable future. Great content and this channel is my go to for all things Gators...!!

Annoying, we take these players in, make them better often take care of their injuries and then they leave. If they are good they will get drafted anyway. Saban said paying players will ruin college football, he was right.

I heard a sports writer say “college football is idiot proof.” That was months ago. The attendance has been stellar, the level of talent has never been higher. The one reservation I have is if the money keeps growing with no real parameters, it is bound to affect enthusiasm. Just my opinion. Are the days of a dominating team over? That’s definitely to be seen.

This is apart of college now when dudes get beat out of a spot they transfer. Gumbs played well and deserves the starting spot next year, Searcy is going in to his junior year he is looking to be that every down type player and I just don't think he's that right now to be honest. He still needs to get bigger and stronger and Lj is already pass him in that aspect. It's a tough loss but we were super loaded at that spot so some attrition is expected.

I don’t think people are surprised by players entering the portal. I think people are surprised that every year Fla doesn’t seem to add more than they lose. Yes, they hit on some nice players like Pearsall, Dike, Badger (the Louisiana Guys like Torrence and MJohnson are different since they followed their HC to Fla) etc. But Fla is not finishing with far better gains than losses every year. They kind of are staying even. Then factor the non Top 5 recruiting classes, Fla needs to improve in all areas

@ That’s one example. What Im saying is, Fla isn’t using the portal by retaining players and adding these other ones which increases the depth and talent of the team. They are basically just getting back to neutral when you add all the losses and additions each year. Having Gumbs and Princely would’ve helped more than just swapping one out for the other as an example. Being that Napier still isn’t recruiting at Top 5 level (Top 10-15 nationally still puts you around 6-8th in the SEC) it’s somewhat concerning. Fla should be all in this portal like how Ole Miss was last year while also retaining their players. They have a 2 year window with Lagway yet Napier’s approach so far this portal time has been very lethargic and eerily similar to prior years.

@barrone71 yes all that is true. But this is the era we are in. Tell me, what team is stacking talent like that. Keeping all their players while adding new ones. AL, GA, Texas, OR, OSU are all losing players.

@@williamfisher866 Everyone loses players, that is true. However, those programs you mentioned also recruit in the Top 5 from HS on a yearly basis which is what Fla must also do. Those teams can afford such portal losses because they can play neutral in the portal by at worst adding other talent and "washing out" between whats lost and gained and contnue stacking the roster with top HS talent. Prob is Fla is not doing that on the HS level and is "washing out" for the most part in the portal when you factor all the adds and losses. Fla cannot build the depth they need to catch up to those other schools if this continues

Billy has said before his top priority is retaining the players on the roster. Doubtful they are offering concrete money numbers to anyone outside the program until all of those conversation have been had. The proof is in the fact of guys like slaughter and barber just announcing they’re returning. No need to panic people lol

Gotta chill and let everything play out. With scholarship adjustments teams have to determine who is a priority. I'm not liking the roster trimming that has to take place but it's the current landscape of the game. Billy has proven he and his staff can evaluate talent. He has been very consistent with his process, methodical and intentional. I suspect we'll be ok with talent. Bigger need in my mind is replacing Jackson and Watson. Those 2 ate blocks and we need that beef replaced. Safety, a receiver and possibly some depth on the oline. It's the holidays, will be in Rio de Janeiro Thursday with the family. Recruiting High School players not paying off like it did. Coaching up players and then seeing them hit the portal for money is becoming a losing strategy. Focus money on signing contributors that can play now. Buy the best you can in the portal. Save a ton of money by limiting your high school recruits? Personally losing a little interest in college ball.
