The Highway 401 Project involves the widening and reconstruction of approximately 18 km of Highway 401 in the western Greater Toronto Area widening the existing six-lane configuration to 10 and 12-lane configurations.
Project details:
✔️4-year project
✔️ $639.8 million
✔️ P3 project
✔️ Approx. 400 workers at the peak of construction
✔️ 3.6 M tonne project demand with almost 1/3 recycled
✔️10 - 12 lane core-collector systems
✔️Median High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes
✔️Support facilities and features including drainage, lighting, signage, Advanced Traffic Management System, carpool lots, etc.
West Corridor Constructors (WCC), a consortium comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., Parsons Inc. and Amico Design Build Inc, used multiple Keestrack R6 impact crushers for on-site material processing. The R6 impactors crushed the existing infrastructure, and the clean recycled concrete was used as a backfill for the new infrastructure.
