I worked at a car impound in Victoria, and for parking in a clearway, it cost people $400 just to retrieve their car, then another two fines of $150 each. Most of these people couldn't even afford to get their cars out, let alone pay the additional fines, but some people pulled out wads of cash to get their Mercedes out, and wouldn't blink an eye. $700 for parking illegally is not justified, it's disgusting.
