@carol9909

I don't think he ever was a villain. Everything he did was because of HYDRA manipulating/torturing, and brainwashing him. The longer he's awake, the more he remembers/learns about himself. That's why they keep him sedated for most of the time.

I never would have imagined that it was possible for a single character having a one-sided conversation against a black background with the occasional glare of headlights to be able to create a whole world, but Sebastian proved me wrong. While the acting was phenomenal, I'm really interested in who wrote this. How the heck did they-in under eight minutes of screenplay-show the nuance of a view of what a pure life really means? I'm stunned.

This character is obviously very intent on being counter cultural. There's some overlap with Chris McCandless, who was a real person. Though not all the views expressed in this monologue match his (he was not vegetarian, for instance), some of the deeper ones do.

Can we just take a moment to admire the talent and the monologue? Sebastian Stan is such a great acting star, his perfomance is so palpable, you know? Like when you talk to a person and you can just see in their eyes how they're feeling or how they react genuinly. For example this video, i do believe this is some guy just trying to get lift while talking to someone who he doesn't know, slowly discovering himself in such a short time that by the end he doesn't extend his arm to call a lift, you see that in his eyes! So much talent, so much beauty, this is awesome.

Deep. I'm so glad I watched this. Not only was the message crucial. The way he delivered it was just superb. And people think of him as that really hot (which he is I mean damn. Just look at that. He's such a work of fucking art. I want a slice of that) guy who's silent in the winter soldier. But if you really look deeper you get an amazing actor, who's a cinematic genius. He's gonna be a timeless icon. Wow. I lovw him and all his work so much.

+mia allen He's just awesome, been one of my favorites for a long time. Unlike some actors, with every role, you forget other roles he did previously because he's different with each one. Prince Jack in the TV show Kings, Bucky Barnes and the Winter Soldier in Captain America, TJ in Political Animals. All of these characters are played to perfection by Sebastian.

+mia allen I am right there with you on every account. I kind of giggled at first because all I knew of this was the animal section. The rest of it, though...man, this is really deep and intellectual and just...I don't know, spiritual? His delivery is incredible. Definitely a crucial message, like you said.

Even when he is almost silent, like in the Winter Soldier, you still can see he is an amazing actor. He manages to express so many things without talking,just with his eyes and face. That's what makes a great actor in my opinion.

Yeah! I'm hoping he'll do something in the meantime until CA 3 starts shooting. I can't sit too still until May 2016 so he needs to get his butt on the screen again soon! It's AWESOME that he landed a movie deal with Marvel that will keep him going for another 7 films. He's such a badass!! :)

Pamela Newman When I read about his 9-pic movie deal, I was like woohoo, good for him! Amazing, how Marvel seems to get their casting choices right. Who knows, perhaps he's reading some script right now and I agree with you about the badass-part :).

This is one of the best acting performances I've ever seen. There's nothing really anything major happening, just some guy telling a story, but somehow it felt like I was watching a brilliant action film. As someone who aspires to be an actress I find Sebastian's monologue an example of how acting really should be done. Wow, just wow.

Man, this performance is giving me emotional whiplash. I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe, and then I'm holding my breath so enthralled, and kinda saddened by what he's saying. Because this how I feel: He's hitchhiking to get away from people and the world to be alone with nature. To get away from humanity because they've done enough. If I'd ever hitchhike, just all across the country for a while, it would be the for exact opposite reason. I'd do it to meet people. To go out and stumble across people and places I never would have found before, to share ideas and experience how vast and wonderful humans can be. It's so odd yet completely human, how two people can be doing the exact same thing, be in the same situation, for exact opposite reasons.
