Grew up in the 60s and 70s and I listened to everything from the Beatles to Frank Zappa however, zeppelin Hendrix black Sabbath and pink Floyd are all time favorites but when I saw your video sultan's of swing I was blown away, damm dud, you are the real deal. That's why it's useless to request rock covers imo. Cause while they're very enjoyable, they'll always just be cover songs at the end of the day. Which most everyone does. However, when you can transform shitty pop songs that you don't enjoy, into thoroughly enjoyable rock n roll. That's where he really shines.

Of course you will find sokme elements of metal in their songs but then you also find some genetic genetic consistency with Homo Sapiens and the Homo Erectus. Oh and btw I'm not talentless, musically illiterate knucklehead, Im studing music, play 4 different instruments and Deep Purple was the first band I ever heard. :) Oh and Lemmy might call Motörhead Rock n Roll but he also sayed that he doesnt make a difference between Rock n Roll and Metal. For him metal is Rock n Roll.

@@TheKartoffel101 Technically All the UK hard rock scene was already labelled as Heavy metal in the early 70s The First forms of hard rock and Heavy metal dated back to late 60 with bands like Steppenwolf and songs like Helter Skelter by Beatles The early 70 band of the First wave of British Heavy Metal (How can you have a NWOBHM if you don't have a First wave) setter the various genres that form the Metal galaxy Deep Purple were pioneers of the prog metal and the european Power metal together with Uriah Heep (the prominence of keyboards, the Grest instrumental technique and the classical inspirations are typical of the early prog and Power europea bands) So Deep Purple ARE an Heavy metal band and by definition hard rock Is a subgenre of the metal and not of the rock n' roll

I'm a huge DP fan and Highway Star has been one of my big favourites for over 20 years now... Overall, I like the effort that's been put together here. There are a few "tricky" steps for everyone looking to cover this song: Lord's solo and Ritchie's solo. Neither of them were perfectly covered here, obviously, but, it felt like it was a conscious and cohesive effort. The organ solo was decent and close enough to the original and, more importantly it didn't subtract from the flow of the song. The guitar solo was a little abridged but I could appreciate where you departed from the original. It was overall good. Now, you obviously don't have Gillan's pipes from 1972 (Made in Japan, best version of this song he ever sang) but you definitely have better pipes than Gillan has today and a lot more balls than you would catch at a DP concert nowadays. Overall an 8.7 out of 10 for this cover, well done, music man!
