Highways England traffic officer run over by his own car A1 Doncaster Air Ambulance take off

A1 closed after Traffic Officer struck in motorway horror.
The A1 was shut for over an hour today after a collision involving a Highways England traffic officer near Doncaster
The incident happened at around 10.30am this morning, Sunday, between Junction 35 and 36 Northbound at Edlington.
Witnesses described as the officer was apparently struck by his own vehicle after he got out onto the hard shoulder.
Shocked passers-by rushed to his aid calling for help, leading to a large emergency response
Police soon arrived and an air ambulance was sent to the scene.
The traffic officer was taken to hospital by road to assess his injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
The A1 was opened shortly after delays of around three miles built up in both directions.

How u gonna open a lane when the helicopter still there they won't take off unless it's a sterile area ie no moving vehicles

I have seen too many Highway officers joining to lane 1 from hard shoulder in a dangerous way.
