In this video, three methods of proportioning of aggregates are discussed with example. This video will be helpful to design the mixes for WMM, GSB, BC, DBM or any other layer where a single size aggregate is not sufficient and it is required to mix two or more than 2 different aggregates to get the desired grading.

desired grading for any layer is to be obtained from specifications. We follow MoRTH 2013 or MoRD 2014. All gradings are given in these books.

Respected sir,this was very informative. When I went to field, the field engineer was talking about one more grading called field mix formila. Can you explain more on "field mix formula" and how it is different from other gradation?
@SatishIITR
@SatishIITR 3 жыл бұрын
I have not head this terminology of Field Mix Formula and there is no such formula. MoRTH book provides some tolerance limits of gradation on each sieve size for Quality Control. But construction should be done with Job Mix Formula obtained in the laboratory only.

A, B, C are plotted in normal way on x-y axis. The balance lines are drawn in such a manner that the area on two sides is almost same.

A very good sir, Sir, I have four samples(A, B, C, and D) and I have also performed the gradation by following the morth table 500-17. Sir, I was following the trial and error method at 2.36 sieve samples C and D lies in the same range. I am confused about how to select the proportion with the same method.
@SatishIITR
@SatishIITR 2 жыл бұрын
If C and D lies in the same range, it may mean that only one of them is needed in the final mix. Try Analytical method. It is simpler and more accurate.

Dear sir, Thank you for your videos. I would like to ask you that how can we select critical sieves like 12.5, 2.36 and 0.075 etc for any mix design. Can you tell me for wearing course etc .
@SatishIITR
@SatishIITR 2 жыл бұрын
critical sieves are generally 2.36 mm and 0.075 mm for both wearing course as well as binder course. These are the sizes which make a mix either tender or stiff
