Just started reading the VN -- screw spelling mistakes, it's still far more epic than the anime. And I haven't even got to the creepy parts yet, but the comedic parts are ALREADY better than the anime. Hyper-dramatic card games and Mion's "double trap" for the win.

I bought the mangagamer version of the VNs but for some reason it has the original music! Not that I'm complaining, I actually prefer that way, but I don't really understand why that happened. Maybe they eventually got the rights to use the original music and replaced it? I don't know

If you bought it recently - there is nothing strange with that, mangagamer "recently" (2015 and owards) rereleasing higurashi with updated translation, optional new sprites and original music. Mangagamer tracks people are talking about are from their previous release where they had to use different music due to some licensing issues if i'm not mistaken.

After 1st april update they changed the music in official versions again... to the bad one. This is what pram talking about. I'd say patch for old soundtrack is mandatory, the new music is very bad.

TBH I actually like the new one. But if it were up to me, I'd use Digital Network for the games in the Question Arcs, and whatever the replacement is called in the Answer Arcs.

There are voice-only mod and soundtrack mod that can be added separately. I prefer original sprites as well :)

+Cody Knight Didn't you hear? Mangagamer is finally rereleasing Higurashi with a fresh translation and the original music and background art (they have updated modern character art). They did chapter 1 a few months ago and they are about to release chapter 2.
