@chasbari Жыл бұрын
I love watching your reviews.. and I'm an old boomer. I'm trying to understand how the game has changed over the years I was away. Loft has always been a part of the game, especially when the heads got fried, even way back when. The degree of loft is certainly more radical now because of sythentics. Back in the day, the hard rock maple in the heads protected the lay down area to the arrows. Beyond that was definitely forbidden due to the pine from there to the deck. I know that many skilled pros use extreme loft like you had to use in the tournament. I think I was watching live stream from it and, yeah, shots break down by the end of blocks, no doubt. I say all this to set the stage for my next comment. I am not so sure that synthetics are as impervious to damage as current opinion might suggest. I have had reason to get lane panels as I work on a pinsetter development project. I have gotten older panels that had to be replaced because of the damage to them. Some panels have been placed directly over old wood lanes that had their final cut to prepare for the new panels whereas other panels were laid over a completely new sub layer. Thing is, those synthetics are a lot more distorted than you might think. The head sections I have are concave, and that's from normal use, cracked pretty severely on the underside. I know of one house where they have had to replace head panels every three years, and that's not cheap. Lanes aren't inspected to near the rigor they were years ago when houses were wood. So, in light of that, it might be time for bowling to reconsider the use of extreme loft. Again, I understand its use with current shots and breakdown of those shots with coverstocks that destroy the oil, particularly in the laydown area, after a certain number of games, especially with talented high rev players using lots of surface, that would include you.. def not a one trick pony, by the way. Wish I had half the hand you have. So sad that you didn't sing out your name like you normally do.. I need that and your laugh to make my day better. Next time...
@hihbowling Жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣. Yea balls are stronger than lever but they aren't putting out the oil for them. I really don't like lofting but will if I have to. Could be bad lane installation too. I bowled at a place and all the balls were bouncing at the arrows no matter how you threw them. The center tried to get the crew back to repair but they brushed them off.

For me, I have 0 problems with lofting. If anything, I’m jealous you have that ability. I definitely couldn’t do that with any kind of accuracy. I’m torn on the street shoes thing. Personally, I think everyone should have to buy a pair of BOWLING shoes, even if they don’t slide. With the interchangeable soles and heels, just make both of them traction shoes. On the flip side, I’d rather see the sport grow. If that means allowing street shoes, I’m all for it. More people, more money, which means bigger payouts for league and tournaments. We used to not allow street shoes at our center until it started becoming a thing. Now, it’s pretty common. Like 2 handed bowling, things change. Great video. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
@hihbowling Жыл бұрын
I wore bowling shoes until they got stolen. When centers complained even though it was ABC/USBC legal I used a lefties non slide shoe. With my style one slip and I'm hurt. That's why I never went back to bowling shoes, need that traction..

I just did my first sanction league since like 2004 this fall (16 weeks). The last week one of the guys on the other team was trying to figure out how I was only 180 avg bowler at the time. I had to explain to him I haven't bowled in over 15 years, and in a league in almost 20 years. He was just surprised to see me being able to throw every part of the lane to shoot 640. Like I'm far from consistent right now. But, being able to play up 5, 10, or even 35 (something I picked up recently) is nice to being able to do, but, having the right balls for the condition for those nights can be hard when you're not traveling with over 8 balls.

It falls under all that. I'm 50 plus and lofting a ball is apart of game.... They're just hating.

If you are paying money to bowl, tournament, league, or practice, and are abiding by the rules, not interfering with other bowlers, or causing damage, then I what's the problem? If you are, then a house owner/manager has the right to refuse your business. Yes, some commentors are toxic. I learned this on Twitter during the pandemic.

Nothing wrong at all. It's only a problem because it's me. 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️

@@hihbowling I was speaking more to the commentors, than you. It's not you. Many people are ignorant, jealous of your talent, or simply jerks. You (or anyone else) would not be lofting the ball if you (or anyone else) didn't think it wouldn't be the most effective way to high scores. Bowlers react to the lane condition provided. There is a simple way to eliminate lofting... OIL THE LANES!!! LOL! 20+ years ago I bowled my last USBC state tournament. We traveled over an hour to bowl 9 games (team, doubles, and singles). There was no re-oil during the day. By the last set the balls were hooking before the arrows. One guy lofted past the arrows, one guy grabbed a house ball. One guy quit and went to the bar. Nothing wrong with the loft. I bowled with an owner of Silver Lanes in Spokane Washington. Averaged 220 plus it was just the way he bowled

Guess it depends on the crowd...lol

The only thing I'll agree to out of all the comments is that lofting so high and far "due to the impact noise" does disturb some bowlers and even irritate some alley owners.. I'm not convinced he has to actually loft it so far, otherwise more bowlers would be doing it far more often...also you can easily tell the ball is about 14-16lbs because of how it drives thru the pins with little to no deflection...his power is 100% legit

Pros getting super left happen ALL THE TIME. They PRACTICE 2 and 3 step lofting because, sometimes, that's literally the only way to get through a pair with your count intact. Where do people think they practice that at? Oh right. This was NEVER about what actually happens. This was ALWAYS about regulating what the people they don't like get to do. Also expensive, but something no one can complain about ever: Get some bowling shoes that are left-right interchangeable. Make em both rubber soles. They still gonna hate it but they can't SAY anything about it.

No rules were broken. Dedicated shoes and I don't care. They'll have to learn to love it...🤣🤣🤣

Man, amazing how to loft so much and make strikes .. that is pretty amazing. Do NOT look to me to do that .. I would end up throwing the ball out into the parking lot or something, or through the ceiling .. pretty cool man!
