Hikaru is the most important chess player of our era I would say… magnus is the best, hikaru has a strong case for second best, but he’s so chill and has so opened so many people up to chess, seeing one of the best players to ever live meme is actually amazing, makes the game way less intimidating and casual, opens up a lot of people to the game, that’s why I think he’s the most important, I’ve shown many of my coworkers who always viewed chess as the game of geniuses his videos and now a bunch of mechanics play chess in their free time.
