It's shocking to me how little credit people give Hikaru. Magnus and Hikaru both play garbage openings to get fresh positions. They are both absolutely doing their best to win a game of chess. Usually mouse slips at this level happens in endgame in time scramble. I think he threw the game. First he says "I might get smoked here" "I'm not taking this so seriously, I just don't care" and then after the mouse slip "so sad" "could have been very exciting". He's acting like he already lost against Magnus before the game started.
