Bromo is one of my favourite places in the world. I've been there twice, without guides of course. Once with a rented motorcycle from Malang, and another time by car. The quality of your videos are extraordinary. I hope KZbin algorithms will promote your videos better.

As Indonesian myself, Pro tip if you going to bromo from surabaya, just use train to probolinggo station, and then from there just use either online taxi, or Damri shuttle bus, we mostly avoid to take unregulated bus like you did in this video exactly the same reason to what happened to you😅, anyway stay safe and enjoy your stay in Indonesia

I did this individual bromo trip a few years ago and faced similar scam situations like you did. 😂 But I did it the other way round! I walked through the Sea of Sand at dawn and was at the crater rim at sunrise. In the afternoon I went to Sunrise Point and watched the sunset there. In both cases I was alone. No crowds. The biggest scam was on my onward journey to Yogyakarta. They sold me a ticket for a VIP express bus and put me on a local bus. I travelled all day and now know every village.

Oh man you should take a train to malang and from malang train station there's a damri van to ngadas 1.5 km from bromo..

I think it is safe if you know the right way. As Indonesian, I usually plan everything before going to any places. I even often get cheaper price when I buy ticket and other needs online. There are many trusted bus company and trusted travel car. 😂😂😂

Even me as a local, I am so afraid to go to Bromo alone without someone who has experience to go there before. The critical points are any terminal station. Since the gang, the scammers, the pick pocket, are gathered in one place to target any tourist either domestic or international. Always avoid to arrive at night.
