Very late to the parade, but.. My top tip is to carry a small pair of binoculars or a monoscope, for those 'Is that a gap in the hedge? Or not?' 😁moments. Been hiking for a lot of my 59 years and still get a bit disoriented sometimes. One of my downfalls is getting mesmerised by the moon and stars, because autism, then forgetting where my wild camp is, so I have a reel of light cord that I now clip to my tarp and can follow it back. Sounds crazy, but it can be VERY easy to get turned around in a forest at night. Love that you keep it real in your vids, as it doesn't always go to plan. Keep on keeping on!

Top tip. Screenshot a What 3 Words location reading where you park. Then if you’re unsure of where you parked you can enter the W3W into Google Maps to find your way back. Great video as always 😃

My friends son is a Royal Marine and went fell running with a friend, they parked in Abergwyngregyn and ran up Foel Fras going up over Drum and down via Carnedd Gwenllian, they finished their run and were walking around looking for their car, after several minutes of confusion they stopped a local only to find they were actually in Bethesda, so my friend had to drive over and rescue them! 🤣 I think in comparison to that you were just a tiny bit lost, the bit I hate the most is having to walk along roads like that!

👍😊 .. getting 'turned around' in a wood .. easier done than said 😏. 'Short Cuts'. Experience has me believing that often they are not as 'short' as one would like (hope 🙏😟🤞) to believe. Good that you found your car .. not much room for manoeuvre on that roadside pathway though. Being Sherwood Forest, I was thinking that maybe 'Robbing Hood' had laid claim to it as 'tribute' 😁.

Horse chestnuts ARE conkers, who's shells have the yellowy short spikes. They looked like sweet chestnuts which have hairier long spikes.

Perhaps you could use "What 3 Words" to obtain a location when you park your car in future and use that to check that you're walking in the right direction when returning to you car? Cheers.
