Before you buy your Hiker Trailer, check out these options to help you with your buying decisions. There are a lot of options for a Hiker Trailer build and half the fun was making it your own! I only go over the options I chose at the time of construction. Modifications I did after I received the trailer will be in a future video and not discussed here. If you have questions on any of the options you see here, please post them in the comments and I will gladly help you out. Please like, share, and subscribe. Thanks for your support.

Great video! there are few features on this trailer that our teardrop does not have, but definitely wish it did are... The pass through door, side swinging galley door, and the rear hitch. Being able to pass things from the galley to the teardrop would be super convenient! Having the side swinging galley door, means you can easily put an awning over top of it like you're batwing and it won't get in the way of the galley door raising like ours. As for the rear hitch bringing along your bikes, or an additional cargo rack for storage becomes a must the longer you travel. Again, thanks for this great inspirational video Matt.

Some people are just a lot better or just feel a lot better about towing a full-sized trailer behind their vehicle. I'm not one of those people, although I envy them. When they get where they're going, all they have to do is park it and go straight to recreation. Now that I'm a lot older, a lot of the recreation is in the setting-up. And these hiker designs, yeah, it's behind you, but it's not slowing you down, much, and it's got its own brakes, so it's not causing you any problems pulling up to a stop. The places I go, I want that small trailer that fits within the profile of the tow vehicle. I prefer it to be level or below the level of my tonneau cover in back, so my view is unobstructed, and it doesn't take much trailer cargo to easily fit a pretty massive amount of gear. Then as long as your tow vehicle has plenty of power - again, easier with a micro/mini - you basically hitch it up and then forget about it. Maybe you notice a dip in the gas mileage. But now that you have such a ridiculous amount of cargo room, you can install a whole extra gas tank and double your range! LOL! But if you are OK with the full-sized trailers on the road for long-haul trips at all elevations, it is nice to just pull over and walk straight into your house.

Thank you for this detailed walk through of your nicely configured trailer. The entire trailer looks to be very well constructed to quite close tolerances, and using high quality materials throughout. Your awning is superb, and with the walls fitted will give you excellent living space in atrocious weather conditions. The colour contrasts well with the black chequer plate and looks great.

Hiker builds a great trailer. They were my number two choice. The only reason I went with a Intech is because I can also use it to haul a bunch of gear. It’s a little less “dedicated camper” but it was a trade off for flexibility.

We have the screen doors on our upgraded model and we don't feel they are necessary. We wouldn't purchase them again. We don't like windows in the door either as it is just another window that needs to be covered up. The window in the door isn't big enough to make a difference when it comes to air movement as the trailer window is close by and it is much bigger.

Looks like you might still check this from time to time... two questions, if ya don't mind. 1) How tall is your garage opening? I'd need to fit this in a garage where I only have 80" to work with. The spec of 76" with rack combined with the usual elevation changes/angles at play has me more than a tad nervous. 2) how wide are those doorways? This thing would get dual use as a cargo hauler and camper trailer, curious at to whether I can fit the stuff in it that would need to fit in it for the former. Thanks.

I really like your trailer! Can I ask even in a private message how much with those options it cost you? Their website lets you pick the options but doesn’t list prices and you have to contact them just to find out. That coupled with some not so good explanations of the options means I’m not picking things that may be essential and picking things that aren’t necessary

Thanks Matt. Both your delivery video and this walk around video were very helpful since the options can be overwhelming. I was curious why you guys opted for the solid side doors instead of with windows and screens. Also, I would like to know what cooktop you went with and what frig you chose. Anything else that you would change about your configuration? Thanks, Bill

We had screens in a rental teardrop(another brand) We had to sleep with our heads at the door side in this model and with the fan on the curtains with try to suck up into the ceiling. lol. We bought it to sleep in not hang in all day so if its hot the air conditioning is on overnight and if you need a nap during the afternoon you can. We sleep with our heads to the galley end which gives us good air flow from the window to the max fan. We also heard people had to cut there mattress down more to get the screens to fit so we didn't see a value in having them. It was another thing at night that would need a curtain. I find it fun how many hikers I see with the front window to be covered up 90 percent of the time. I like it dark when I sleep so the less light coming in the better. Hope that helps. Cook top is just a 20 year old colman propane to connect to our tank from the side table. Sets up quick. Fridge is a dometic that is plugged into the truck most of the time. We like to leave it there so we when do go out on an adventure we are taking it with us. I will put it in camp under the table if needed. I can run it off 120 with a shore line. Look on my channel for a review of the fridge.

Great video and awesome trailer. It’s a bit pricey for what you get though. I paid less for my travel trailer though. It sleeps 5 and has all the amenities like kitchen and bathroom with shower plus heating, refrigerator My needs were different though. I like having room for my son and grandson. If it was just me I would probably go with what you have. I love the colour.
