Matt and Wendy, I Watch all your videos about Hiker Trailers, I really like how Hiker let's you buy a plain Trailer and slowly add what you may want on it ...And , I think 🤔 it helps a customer that ain't got a lot of money to hand out ? So ,this gives someone a chance to come back and add that item on they couldn't afford 5 months ago ? Thanks Matt and Wendy for sharing and keeping us up-to-date on the info 👍 Cause, I think 🤔 Hiker Trailers is where , I will be going next summer ☀️

Man oh man! We just went to the Denver shop last weekend and it’s not quite as nice as the Mothership in Indiana! What a great crew though. We were having issues with the solar on our Extreme Off Road and Rob (Indiana) was awesome to hop on a FaceTime call with me and help me troubleshoot it. This year was our second season with the Hiker and true to form we got outdoors WAY more than other years. Great video Matt! Cheers from Utah!

Thanks Matt and Wendy. That sure looks huge compared to when we picked ours up in 2017! For such a large facility, there were very few people around. Did you go during off hours? I'd think with the backlog, they would have a full crew running. Anyone left from when Wes and Megan owned the place?

@@MWDAdventures I forgot to ask; As a 30 year RIDGID product designer, I couldn’t help but notice the pipe threading machine. I can’t recall ever seeing threaded pipe on a Hiker. Did you happen to notice what they used it for? Thanks

Super cool trailers. My only wonder or question is the roof cross bars. Not the cross bars themselves but the brackets. It’s just 4 bolts into the side of the trailer with what looks like thin metal brackets and then by cutting out their HT logo into them takes away strength of the bracket. I’d like to see a video on the weight limits and a closer look at those brackets.
@eda78753 жыл бұрын
I called them and asked. They told me they dont have an exact number but theyre pretty strong. Should be able to hold a rooftop tent with 2 or 3 adults in it. So I dont think it is an issue.
@MWDAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I got a reply from Bob and he stated the brackets are 3/16 carbon steel, laser cut, and powder coated. Plenty robust enough to support the bars. We have more details next week on the roof top tents.

When I called IN a few weeks ago I was told roof top AC (or any AC) is not available so I went with a Runaway instead. That's a shame. I'm guessing they have so much business right now, they are not too worried about it. 😃
@yorigasi39123 жыл бұрын
I also went for a runaway because the wait time was ridiculous. No regrets here because Runaway gets you way more for the money and cheaper.

I’m curious as to why hiker trailer does not offer a 5 x 10 Xtreme off Road???
@MWDAdventures Жыл бұрын
These trailers are made to go off road - longer frames would make it harder to get off-road and increase the chance of the back end bottoming out.
@drc18833 жыл бұрын
Why do you use wood instead of aluminum for the boxes?
@travisadams44702 жыл бұрын
I wish they used a different material for the box other than ply wood.

They want $15K for a camper that has no frame or insulation??? Are they insane? I will be lucky if my roof doesn't cave in over time with my kayaks on them. I would NOT put a roof top tent on this and think that 3/4 inch plywood is strong enough to hold it. This is NOT a sturdy build at all. Even the hitch in the rear is cheap. This is a very cheap Wood Shell that's covered with an ultra thin layer of aluminum and trimmed out to make it look strong. I was going to buy one until I saw the real guts if this. For $5K you can build a much stronger and better trailer that will out last this.
@ottocornett11512 жыл бұрын
Cheaply made trailers that sell for way too much. I’m making one with a steel base frame, steel upper cage frame, super heavy duty torsion axles, wood interior, etc. and the price is not even half as much as these.
