Yeah, i did see people have better luck with the hiker and lance over the hiking stick. The just focusing on speed over range seems much easier

I had a crazy run with this tater, went all in rerolling levels for speed... around 240% speed with the power generator item, a couple cursed poles that had +1 range for 10 steps. I had around 3000 range by the end of the run, which almost killed me because the weapons had 2s cooldowns lol. But was doing thousands of damage and the walking poles were hitting the entire screen :D. Gained 1 hp like every few seconds

they probably meant for you to pivot off of the hikers stick. with all that range you can pivot into something else huge, outside of just the stick but you often just find something early and largely stick with it.

Not quite. Hiker only gives a small amount of material and max hp, the hiking stick is what would benefit most from speedy running around as it would gain damage from speed and distance. Edit: hiker plus chunky or lich on the other hand might be more interesting as they'll actually benefit from the hikers max hp passive.

Required number of steps for range increase nose dives nicely with upgrades.. From 70 base to 40 on a red stick :)

there are plenty of weapons that are so slow it would take you more than 20 waves to even get to the .75/sec attack speed limit, even if you focused on nothing but attack speed bonuses
