Hiked that a few years ago. I’m on my 2nd pair of Topo Ultradventures. Love ‘em! 👍😎

Love the comfort of the 3's but I still think the 2's are better on my feet for running. I still can't decide on which to take on my 120 mile Palemetto Trail section hike in two weeks. I own five pairs of them now so that should get me through 2023. Hopefully I can get back on the FT next year, thanks Tom!

Great show of FLA Jason. I was at Naples a month ago shortly after the cane went through. It ruined the beautiful beaches down there. My nephew lives there, and he told me last week that they are about done sifting the sand and soon the beaches will be back in business. I am going back down for a month or so in Feb. I prefer to ride my bike down there. Its easy because its so flat. I always see gators there. My favorite creatures are the Manatees there. Take care Jason, and thanks for sharing.

I was wondering how the beaches were in the Ft Meyers/Naples/Sanibel Island area...we almost drove down there just to take a look at it, we were fortunate to not loose any of our beach at Lido. Definitely a great place to bike! Seen some cool Manatee hangout areas up near Clearwater/St. Pete last year. Thanks for watching!

So Rugged Mountain Mister and i hiked our section of the palmetto trail and it got down to 25 degrees!! Granted it was 2 back home but still... it was COLD!! Mister was impressed you were jogging while flying the drone! Great hike!! Did the shoes dry out ok?
@jasonwish-
@jasonwish- Жыл бұрын
Thanks guys! The shoes never had time to fully dry out but close, definitely not as well as a Altra LP would. Fortunately we are looking at amazing spring like weather for our Palmetto hike, lows in the 40-50 and highs 60-70, can't wait!! The hardest part of running with the drone is that the mavic mini doesn't have follow me option so I have to get it on the right course and hold the controller stick forward at the right speed to match my pace all while not looking at it too much which would ruin the shot lol, kind of a pain but worth the effort in the end!

We have some wild boar in Ohio in the Wayne National Forest but they try to eradicate them at the first sign. The first time I saw wild boar was just south of the Myakka State Park at T. Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve. I ran a 15k race there a few years ago. Visited Myakka later in the day and ran a short loop off of State Park Road.

Funny. Floridians consider 70s and 80s perfect hiking conditions. If that area is where I was two weeks ago, that palmetto scrub was about two weeks away from peaking in wildflowers like St. John's wort, liatris, false foxglove, false vanilla, deertounge, goldenrod and paint brush. Tip: always wear long pants on a Florida hike for all the reasons you've stated.
@jasonwish-

Yeah I know those are very pleasant temps for Florida but when you come from 10 degrees in Ohio and have been aclimated to it for a month, 75 feels pretty hot. I normally hike in Florida during early to mid Feb to avoid the humidity and heat and it's alway a nice change from the brutal cold in Ohio. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I lived in St. Petersburg Florida, most of my life up until recently. Always avoided Myakka state park because of the wildlife. It scared me! But I think I would brave it now. Nice trip report! Wish the trails were better maintained and maybe some hog hunters allowed in.

Very cool place! I’ve been there probably a half dozen times and have seen and done about everything offered there except the backpacking loop, but it’s always been during the winter. The amount of wild boar running rampant there and the damage they cause is just mind boggling!

Thanks! I've hiked there before and about a 110 miles of the Florida Trail....I'm a trail runner and fast packer so I always where shorts and trail runners while hiking and backpacking unless it's below 35 degrees. For me, pants and boots are for working on the farm 😁

Hey Jason, just came across your channel through your plantar fasciitis video. I'm curious, can you walk around barefoot indoors now without pain? @@jasonwish- I never thought about it being winter. Figured snakes would be around all year round in Florida. I just figured for that particular kind of terrain. Some good hunting boots or snake boots might be okay. My legs were hurting looking at you. Walk through that stuff lol. I didn't know you like to run to. Mainly see you walking. Makes sense truly and I know you know what you're doing. I was just worried for you. Didn't want you snake bit nor your ankles cut up grass cuts can hurt like some b**** lol I'm kind of glad you didn't see any wild boar they can charge you for no reason whatsoever. Glad you made it out safe. Still good video even though I didn't get to see no alligators lmao
