In Romania, camping is generally allowed on both public land and designated camping areas. However, It's advisable for hikers to research the specific national parks and protected areas that Via Transilvanica intersects with, as there may be regulations or guidelines in place to protect the environment. 😊

...Hello Olive, my fellow camino/via enthusiast! 😄 Very interesting seeing you on this different style of walking route... I think I'll need to warm up a bit more to it (in comparison to the camino), but its a start! So here are some of my thoughts... Walking in nature is always beautiful, relaxing, peaceful, rewarding... due to the time of year not so much is 'out' yet... e.g. didn't see any flowers... always curious how the smell is... of nature, the agricultural fields, the villages... maybe this via is less along roads? Certainly a plus in one way, but also then there are very few (if none) cafes or shops... also: in the places you stayed you have nice kitchens, but are there shops around, or would you have to carry your food for cooking? Probably useful to have a walking map that shows all shops and cafes/restaurants... PS. the old buildings in the villages look very beautiful! I haven't seen any people in the whole video - of course no walkers, as you said, but you spoke quite positive about the people in the villages and your B&B hosts... I love the idea of a community-building via... imagining it makes me curious! ☺ When I was in California, I hiked a lot by myself as well, in remote territory, and there are no bears to expect, but coyotes, and the 'biggy' are mountain lions! There are warning signs all over, and yes: they are also night active... suggested behavior rules like: don't act fearfully or run away - triggers their predator instinct... make yourself as big as you can, and growl, shout, scream... the short of it: I never met or saw any of them. Will definitely follow your journey on the via - very curious if the landscape changes a lot, or stays similar... would love to see more of your hosts, but I understand, that you might not want to film them... however I could also imagine, that some of them would pretty much like that, as it advertises their places, and also the whole idea of the via... you could maybe offer them to interview them: why are they offering this? What do they hope to get from it? What are the short-comings, what are the benefits? Overall: whats their vision of being part of this community-building via? I can speak for myself, but I'm sure, I'm not the only one: would be so lovely to see some 'faces to the places'... PS. as always: your filming, commenting and guiding us through your experience is fantastic - love watching your videos!! 💖😎

Hello Jörn! 😁 Lovely to hear from you, as always! It's true, the trail seems to be less along roads, but the small villages don't have any restaurants; they generally have some small shops. That might change when more accommodations are open, but I'm unsure about that. Stepping into new territory myself, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've known about the project since its launch, and its purpose is to create something similar to the Camino, in terms of community. It was all done by volunteers and locals willing to help. Having heard of the project, I didn't know how many people I'd meet, or even what it's like hiking alone in Romania. I was actually surprised by how 'out of season' everything seemed, mainly due to its lack of popularity. I believe the project was only finalised in 2022, so it'll probably take some time to reach its goal in terms of community. I'd love to feature more people in my videos too and will try to do so, perhaps if I return and it's livelier, or get the chance to speak to more locals. So thank you for suggesting that, I completely agree! 😊 Regarding your experience in California, I think that's usually the case. I've noticed people even go on organised wildlife tours specifically to see the animals, and most of the time, they don't get to see anything. Glad to see Olive back on the trail! What were the terraced hillsides used for? I didn’t see any crops. Please try to show your interactions with people along the way. I’m sure your hosts would have welcomed the opportunity to show their accommodations and hospitality. Moreover, others would say yes if you asked them for permission. (You did show a friend on the Camino.) You said the Transylvanian trail is designed for social interactions. We would enjoy that, too! Lastly, how does one say “Buen Camino” in Romanian?

Thank you! 😊 I'm actually not sure about the terraced hillsides either; there didn't seem to be anything there, so I was wondering the same thing! 😄 I'll definitely try to show more interactions with people in the future! As for 'Buen Camino,' the closest translation would be 'Drum bun'. However, people typically just say 'Bună ziua!', which means 'Good day!' and is simply the way to say Hello. 😊

Am inceput canalul de KZbin cu experienta mea pe Camino de Santiago, unde cred ca o audienta internationala a fost mai potrivita si a adus mai multi urmaritori. Pentru Via Transilvanica este adevarat ca ar fi fost probabil mai vizualizate si apreciate videourile in limba romana, dar trebuie sa aleg una. 😄
