Hiking and Camping in Cairngorms National Park: Ben Macdui to Loch Avon.

In June 2023, my work friends and I climbed the second-highest mountain in the UK, Ben Macdui, and we decided to camp for 2 nights even though we were all amateurs at camping. Nevertheless, we came prepared and we were very lucky with the weather. Initially, I was only planning a couple of day hikes in Cairngorms National Park, but then, all changed when I came up with a bigger travel plan for the month of July that requires some camping skills. So, I decided to get at least some basic skills before I headed out for more challenging multi-day treks. (Plus, my new pair of shoes needs breaking in.) We started the hike to Ben Macdui summit really late and ended up camping beside Loch Etchachan. The next day, we walked to Loch Avon and spent the rest of the day camping there for our second night. On the third day, we left Loch Avon behind and hiked up the summit of Cairn Gorm Mountain and then rode the bus back to Aviemore once we reached the bus stop at the base of the mountain.
