Hiking Austin and Lewis Mountains - Shenandoah National Park

This hike takes place in the Shenandoah National Park east of Grottoes, Virginia in the southern section of the National Park. The goal of this hike is to the summit of both Austin Mountain and Lewis Mountain. This trail is moderately easy class 1 trail and bushwhacking.
The trailhead is located at the end of VA 663 (google Madison Run Road Trailhead or see the Directions link below). I parked on the side of the road; there was enough space for maybe 20 vehicles. I followed the Madison Run Road trail to the Austin Mountain Trail. Once on the ridge, I bushwhacked to the summit of Austin Mountain. I made my way back down to the ridge and then bushwhacked north to the summit of Lewis Mountain.
