Hiking Deep into the Wilderness of Alabama to Fly Fish for Backcountry Bass: Topwater Popper Fishing

Our crew loves saltwater fishing. Tarpon, redfish, bonefish-- you name it, we love it.
BUT recently we got on to redeye bass fly fishing while filming our friend and expert on everything redeye-- Dr. Matt Lewis. He pitched a simple but effective strategy: do you love hiking and fly fishing for trout? Then you'll love redeye bass fly fishing even more.
Because... it's all on poppers. Completely topwater fishing at it's finest.

I love small creek fly fishing, doesn't matter what fish. I was on my favorite little creek last week, it's where I caught my first trout. it flows through a big meadow with steep rock wall sections across from Canyon Lodge where I used to work

Those are a beautiful and intriguing species of bass I think I'll have to add that to my bucket list of species to catch. Love small stream fishing even though the fish rarely get above 12" or 14" in most cases but the dense canopies and seclusion along with clear running water over cobble stones makes it all worthwhile

Looks like y’all had them dialed in. Loooove small stream fishing all across the country, but it’s pretty hard to beat Alabama high gradient small streams. That’s my very favorite. Good work gents.

@@koltowenby10 Depends what you want-- more fish? Definitely sub-surface. More fun? Definitely topwater. We honestly fish topwater 99% of the time (even in the cold) because that's what we find the most fun in! They were hitting some poppers yesterday, so it's worth a try!
