I’m frequently praying when I’m out backpacking…especially when I’m solo! People ask me if I get lonely or afraid. Like you said, I’ll have challenging and sometimes scary moments, but I know I’m not really alone…and that gives me strength. You’re a wise lady!

This section of the CDT is tough but scenic. From Pinedale, you will most likely head up into the Wind River Range. That will be some of the most scenic yet difficult trail before you drop out of the High Country. After below the Wind River you will come to the South Pass where the CDT splits. The western route is shorter but extremely dry. You will be dreaming of mountains again before you see the Medicine Bow or Colorado peaks. Keep your amazing attitude/spirit and the Good Lord will get you through it. Just remember that the Colorado 14's are awaiting.

The Wind river mountains are amazing. There are alot of good side trips in the wind river mountains. Last summer I took a side trip to Island Lake/Indian pass and standing on a 12,000 ft ridge with small glaciers on one side, a high lush green valley dotted with little lakes and then dropping down to Island lake with a bunch of wildflowers and stunted subalpine trees was amazing.

Don’t push too hard. There’s a reason why your body isn’t performing at the top of the hiking part: it’s preoccupied on working on your health at a deeper level. Don’t go against that, it needs what it needs, try and listen to it. It tells you everything that’s going on. Take care!! 👋
