Christian, I want to thank you again for your inspiring video of the Dingle Way, I must have looked at it at least another two dozen times since we first corresponded. We’re so much looking forward to the hike there in a month and a half. Tourism Ireland should reward you for motivating old hikers like us to go there - it’s all because of your video! Just upgraded to the mini-3-pro and hope to achieve footage similar to yours. Love the rest of your scenic hike videos as well - keep up the good work! Cheers! André (Canada)

Hey André! I‘m really glad that I was able to spark some inspiration. You picked the perfect month! Make sure you hike up mount Brandon to get some nice views over Brandon Bay. Lucky you, the mini 3 pro looks amazing. Has some nice extra features and the image quality looks Superb for the size. Will you be uploading some footage on KZbin?

@maholy892 жыл бұрын

Christian, Congratulations on your most awesome video!! Great cinematic skills! I have watched “The Dingle Way”. over a dozen times in the past week. It is so emotionally moving that right after seeing it, my wife and I just booked a trip to hike the Dingle peninsula in early September. We can’t wait! We’ve recently hiked (before covid) the Mediterranean island of Menorca (See kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3XGeWWjjpljjpI - wished I had brough my drone for that trip) and the coast of Portugal - we loved it so very much that we look forward to Ireland. A few questions if I may Christian: - were you flying a Mavic pro or Mini2? - Are there complicated drone regulations regarding their use in Ireland? (I’ve been flying them for 8 yrs, starting with Phantom 2, Inspire 1, Mavics and minis, been through all licensing and Canadian SFOC’s etc) - curious what you used for some of that spectacular footage. Did you use Trace, Profile and/or Spotlight Active Track modes? - did you maybe use a DJI pocket for ground shots? - did you crash in the bush at 11:00 minute mark🙁? - it appears you had good weather, when was your hike? - noticed you had a bug net over your head at one point, are bugs very bad there? Anyway, most impressive video, I’ve subscribed to your channel and i will look at your other spectacular KZbin videos. Maybe we could zoom sometime to get more insights from you. Cheers! Andre from Canada.

Hi Andre, thanks for you inspiring comment. To your questions: 1) Mini2 (I always trying to optimize my pack weight and every gram counts ;-)) 2) I don't want to give advice on drone regulations. From my understanding it's similar across all EU countries and with the Mini2 weight you shouldn't need a license --> don't quote me on that. 3) I don't use any tracking function. I fly the drone manually and try to make it look like it follows me. 4) For the ground shots I used my Iphone 11 actually --> upgraded now to a Sony ZV1 5) Fortunately, I didn't crash it, but it was super close :-D 6) The weather was fantastic, almost too good to be true for Ireland. You should expect some rain, but you might be as lucky as I was. The Hike was end of August/ beginning of September. 7) Bugs (midges) can be brutal in the summer if the have the right weather conditions for them. If you are not camping you don't need to worry about them, but if you do, make sure to bring a bug net or spray. I'm glad you liked the video, and sure let's have a chat before you come to Ireland! Cheers, Chris

@@maholy89 thanks for your quick reply Chris and thank you for answering all my questions. Amazing that you achieved that cinematography having your mini2 following you manually, that takes great skill! We’re finalizing booking the hotels & B&B’s this week and counting the days (134). Will certainly reach out to you sometime before the trip. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Cheers! Andre

So amazing! Can I ask where you camped? I am hoping to go next week and wild camp as much as possible.
@maholy892 жыл бұрын
Hey Taz, glad you want to do the hike. It’s definitely worth it. The hike can be quite Road heavy in some sections, so wild camping is not possible everywhere. Most nights I stayed on campsites - there are plenty on the peninsula. Wild camping is definitely possible and a must all around mount brandon and there are some nice spots around Dunquin pier.

Hey Christian, stunning video. Looks pretty secluded out there - Did you meet many people on your trip? How many days did it take for you to complete?
@maholy897 ай бұрын
Hey Paul, it took me 8 days. Yes I met a few people out there, but not a lot of hikers. Especially along the Slea head drive there are usually quite a few tourists. However, apart from that the trail is mostly quite secluded indeed.

Hallo , hätte einige Fragen zum Dingle Way , war es möglich auf jeder Etappe zu Zelten ? finde recht wenig darüber online . lg Mandy
@maholy892 жыл бұрын

Meine Itinerary sah so aus: Day 1: Hike Annascaul to Dingle (Zelten im Rainbow Hostel. Super netter Besitzer und toll ausgestatteter Zeltplatz) Day 2: Hike Dingle to Dunquin (Übernachtung im BnB) Day 3: Hike Dunquin to Mount Brandon (Wildcamping auf dem Berg --> im Sommer Achtung Midges!) Day 4: Hike Mount Brandon to Sandy Bay 2 (Super Zeltplatz direkt am Strand) Day 5: Hike Sandy Bay 2 to Seaside Caravan/ Camping nahe Camp (alternativ Green Acres Caravan Camping) Day 6: Back to Tralee. Hoffe das hilft dir :-)
