Hiking Mount Marcy | Highest Adirondack Summit | CF Xtreme Hike

On a cold, rain-soaked morning, my friends and I set out to climb New York's highest mountain, Mount Marcy, in an effort to raise awareness and life-saving funds for the battle against Cystic Fibrosis. Mount Marcy is located in the heart of the Adirondack Park... and the highest of all the Adirondack High Peaks. Through a lot of mud, sweat and tears... we reached the summit despite the tough conditions. But most importantly... we raised a lot of money for Cystic Fibrosis research.

I was here just yesterday and it’s more challenging than the first time because of the freezing temperature (30s-40s degrees F). It’s slippery and muddy. The strong, gusty and freezing winds at the top was scary. Thank you for an inspiring video.

I've been on Marcy 5 times... and the conditions on this day made it tough. My first time on Marcy was really scary as I was a novice hiker at the time and there was glaze ice, a stiff wind and blowing snow. I learned a lot of hard lessons that day.

Thank you Matt. I got involved in this hike several years ago as my neighbor girl has CF. She is the very last person saying thank you in the video. She was very close to needing a double lung transplant... but thankfully today... in large part to a new "near" miracle drug called Trikafta.... she is doing great. I've made many of my best friends through this annual Xtreme hike.

Have you been to the highest points in any other states?

Funny you should ask that. A couple of weeks a go I took a road trip from Syracuse to St Augustine and planned to high point Georgia (Brass Bald) and North Caroliina (Mitchell). But road closure because of an ice storm stopped me. But long story short... I am not a high pointer. Is that a goal of yours?
