In the 6th and final episode of my Pyrenees GR11 thru-hike, I hiked from Ochagavia to Irun, where I ended my hike. This section mostly went through wet hills in the lower Pyrenees with a lot of sheep and cows.

Wow man. GR 11 is now on my bucket list thru hikes. So far I overlooked Pirenees. That was a big mistake. It is a long one, about 6 times longer than my longest hike, but I am in love now. ❤thanks a lot for your documentary!

Thanks for the video. I did HRP in 2013. It partially goes along with GR11. Took me 35 days. Still remember every day of it. Spent a week in Barcelona after finish. Had the same thoughts on big cities after trail. I should set up my tent somewhere near the trail for a week with a big bag full of food and lazily consume all of it

Congratulations Oscar on finishing the GR11! Really beautiful allready just watching it trought videos. Hope you have had some good rest afterwards. And lookin' eagerly too see you to do perhaps some re-cap review, what you've learned from the journey spiritual wise maybe and ofc gear wise, and some tips about the culture what to take into consideration if doing this. Much love and cheers. Keep it up! ps. Just a thought, can you estimate how much you spent time for the "static" video captures during the trip :)

Yep, my next video will be just that. Hopefully it's up next week. Well, I'd say that filming the whole hike takes up about 20% additional time, because not only you need to walk after the camera, but set up the shot, talk to the camera, think about the composition, e.t.c.

Gz, Oscar and greetings from northern Finland! You hiked fast and somehow still took a lot of amazing footage! Would love a post hike gear review. I'm getting gear for my first long solo hike, maybe even the GR11. You really inspired me. First, I was following these US thruhikers but unfortunately I'm not a "high-net-worth-individual" so money is a limiting factor. Also this would be my first long solo hike. I have all the necessary clothing now. Got the Thermarest Xtherm pad(hope it's not too hot) but can't really decide what tent should I get. It's a hard one to choose. Something that uses trekking poles maybe? if the poles break I'm fucked. Sheesh, idk man! I was wondering how much money is needed to complete the GR11 not including flights or food. I feel like I would want to shower twice a week or maybe sometimes I could stretch it a week. I haven't researched this at all because I'm still in gear ordering mode but worst-case scenario: 60 days, hotel twice a week would be 850€, if average hotel would be 50€. Is 50€ hotel price wishful thinking along GR11? How much did you roughly spend for food and hotels or how much do you feel is a safe amount to put aside for this trip? I'll watch your videos again, I'm sure you talked about it already.

I just remembered there's rivers, lakes and stuff like that outside. Big. Free bathing. I can go anywhere now!

Hey, thanks! I'm glad someone's watching my videos at 6am lol. Post-hike gear update video coming out this week. You can also get a shower in campsites, which was my preferred choice. Once you start living out of your tent, you don't really want to stay in hotels anymore. :D Anyway, hotels in the Pyrenees cost about 60-80 per night, 50 if you're lucky. Campsites, on the other hand, cost 8-15 eur per night and offer showers, sinks to do your laundry, a bar and/or restaurant and sometimes a grocery store as well. You can also usually leave your power bank in the reception overnight. The way I was walking, I was able to stay in a campsite every 2-5 days. If I didn't manage to find one, I just washed myself and my clothing as well in a river with marine-life-friendly soap. By the way, before starting the trail, I thought I'd need a hotel once every week, but now if I'd do it again, I wouldn't spend any nights in hotels. On the most frugal end, I'd say you could live on 10 eur per day, by not buying too expensive food, not staying in campsites, and charging your phone in bars/restaurants every 1-2 days. You come by them very often, and a coffee usually costs 1-2 eur, a glass of bear 2-3 eur, and a sandwitch 3-6 eur. I would say that I spent about 15-20 eur per day, when counting food, campsites, 2 nights in a hotel in andorra, and restaurants/bars every 1-2 days. A lot of people on GR11 hiked with 20 kg setups, mostly from decathlon, and didn't know mutch about hiking gear in general, so ultralight gear isn't really a neccessity, it's an extra. ;)

Oh and about the rivers - in the mountains they're incredibly cold haha. So if possible, I opted for a hot shower in campsites. And about food - expect to pay x2 prices in the smaller towns. Still not too expensive if you get pasta and beans, but yeah. The gr11 rarely goes through "cities" and instead crosses these smaller touristy towns, which have a single (if any) shop with basic overpriced essentials.
