Hiking The Appalachian Trail (Episode 35) Franconia Ridge

In this adventure I’m dropped back off by the hostel at the flume visitor center, where I begin to trek over Franconia ridge, summiting Mount Lincoln and Mt Lafayette. Managing below freezing temps and high winds above 5,000 ft elevation on my way to the Galehead hut.

@@ervinslens thank you! It was one of the many highlights for me! It was very windy up there, I was getting battered on the summits and actually got down on all fours just to get away from the wind.. I’m grateful you watched and enjoyed this video!!

That's a Canada Jay at 1:47 also known as a Gorby, lumberjack or camp robber....they are awesome and friendly. Ruffed grouse at 2:37 - what an exceptional encounter

(SPOILERS) Haha I am laughing at myself for typing spoilers and protecting my answer to your question like palace secrets.. I am well through NH. I actually have seen some other videos of these types of birds landing in peoples hands in the whites and it’s great! I also ran into them again in the wildcats and have what I think is good footage, but truthfully I haven’t reviewed it yet. Anyway, I’ve really enjoyed sharing experience here with you! Did you ever find out what kind of birds those were?

@@Richard12233 no, not really haha. There was a sign in the hut I stayed at with a lot of pictures of the birds of that area, the one that chirped at me was probably a spruce grouse. The first one I think I thought it was a gray jay back then, it could have been a bicknells thrush, or boreal chickadee or who knows what? Haha I just googled it, really no idea
