In early July 2021, Jay and the guys (Daisy too!) set out with a plan to hike 6 Adirondack High Peaks of the Great Range in a single day! Did we accomplish our goal? Did we die? Are we all still friends? Guess you'll have to watch until the end ;)

I typically promote the idea that ANYONE can get out and do the hikes that we're doing; however I strongly suggest that beginners DO NOT plan on doing this hike as we did. It was a very challenging day and I don't want anyone to get hurt, lost, or stranded. Please be smart when hiking - being prepared means having the right gear, being in good physical condition, and making sure you are well aware of all of the details of your trip! Thanks for watching!

57 years ago I led a small group of boys 14-15 starting from John's Brook Lodge and the Garden over Gothics, Saddleback, Basin and Haystack on as exquisite a day as you could ever have in late August. Came down the Phelps trail. 20 miles total. Not 6 but a bunch. Was in good shape then Haystack is considered #1 rated view in the high peaks because of the exceptional view of Marcy and the Panther Gorge. It is not an way summit to get to. If you haven't, do Noonmark. Incredible views of Giant just behind it, great range and Dix,.

So glad you posted this. I’ve been looking forward to this posting for weeks. We still have all of the peaks you guys (and gal Daisy) bagged to do on our quest for 46. That was great. You and ‘Mark are so close to the finish line. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on completing the Dumb. Been following you for years, aka when you published as “Beared in the Woods.” Your work is awesome and very informative. My wife and I are on 30, hoping to finish soon. Stay well, and best wishes on the last 4 peaks.

I watch a bunch of your videos man. I’m down near Albany area, but always going up to the Dacks for a good time. I’ve only done 1 high peak (cascade) which was super hard on me. I’m 300lbs 6’ tall and felt every step on the way down lol. Just got done with a 4 day canoe trip from long lake to tupper along raquette River. I’d do that all summer if I didn’t have to work man it was beautiful out there.

Maybe this gets answered later, can you camp in a hammock in other areas? or is it just now allowed around the leanto?
@JayMorrisonOutdoors
@JayMorrisonOutdoors 4 ай бұрын
Staying at the JBL property does involve some restrictions, and one of those is that within the property, you can only camp at the designated lean-tos and aren't allowed to use tents or hammocks unfortunately. That being said, you could camp in a primitive site *near* the property and use a tent or hammock if you want.

I might be doing 6 High Peaks in 1 hike in spring 2024 the most that I did so far in 1 hike is 4 during October 25th 2023 it was my 21 hour hike I went from the Calamity Brook Trail to the John Brooks Lodge along the way I knocked off my primary target for 2023 Redfield then did Gray Peak then Skylight and finally Haystack before heading for John Brooks

@@kenkaplan3654 I’m use to doing long hikes and walks I walked from Watertown NY to all of the townships and all the villages in both Jefferson and Lewis County NY and a number of other places in the 2 counties and even when I moved to Carthage NY I continued it to the point where I started hitting up the neighbors in 2023 I walked from Carthage NY to 1 place in all 4 neighboring counties I did Oswego County’s Redfield(township/hamlet) Oneida County’s Boonville Herkimer County’s Stillwater St Lawrence County’s Gouverneur It was the walk to the township/hamlet Redfield that put the most fuel on me to go after the mountain I decided that “I took out 1 Redfield in this state now I gotta take out the other” and it became my 1st solo mountain and my 8th High Peak out of the 15 that I had conquered(2 in 2013 and 1 in 2014) by the end of 2023 and this year I’m going to be extremely hard on the Adirondacks going after both mountains that I have and haven’t done and make Whiteface and Redfield the 2 High Peaks that I’ve done the most and every so often I might tackle their neighbors

LEASH LAW! If you're going to be a 46er, be worthy of it! Why did you ever bring the dog???
@JayMorrisonOutdoors
@JayMorrisonOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
She's not the first dog to work on or become a 46er, right? And honestly, I think strictly following the leash law 100% would put people and dogs at risk of serious injury in certain circumstances ... you can disagree, but this is what we've observed on our experiences on adventures.
