5:41 Chaparral Yucca (Hesperoyucca whipplei), a common chaparral habitat plant that you will see all the way up into the southern Sierra as far as Kings Canyon NP. • 6:02 Sugar Bush (Rhus ovata), it's a type of sumac. • 6:52 Red Diamond Rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber). • 12:39 Ocotillo [oh-ko-tee-yo] (Fouquieria splendens). • 12:43 California Barrel Cactus (Ferocactus cylindraceus). I have it's smaller cousin, the San Diego Barrel Cactus, growing in my yard. Cacti are common throughout San Diego County, including in the chaparral and the California sage scrub. The San Diego Barrel Cactus grows close to the coastline.• The agave plants in this episode (for example near your last campsite) are in the same Asparagus family as the yuccas. The ones here are Desert Agave (Agave deserti), but you won't see them again after the water cache.

If Nicola was to weigh all her dry bags, I believe she would be horrified. Birdsong is a great trail name. You are doing brilliantly, keep on keeping on! Tremendous effort 👍😀

Perhaps KLUTZ would be a good trail name for the one who is not as steady on her feet... AKA the one that has fallen more than once 😮😂

I once hiked with a faffer. She had to get up at least an hour before me and was still faffing when I was ready to leave, never again.😁

Holy Moly! Rattlesnakes! I was spooked when I saw an adder when I was hiking in the Quantocks a few weeks back but Rattlesnakes, no thanks. 🪱Great to see another video from you girls, stay safe.
