Hiking the PCT! Paradise Lake Backpacking

Lili and I went on a great overnight backpacking trip to get out in the backcountry and also get some fun miles in on the PCT! This was a wonderful hike adn hope to do it again later in the season when there is less mosquitoes ;) Please see further information and links below to learn more about the trail!

Check out this 15.1-mile out-and-back trail near Truckee, California. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 7 h 1 min to complete. This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Paradise Lake is a classic Sierra Nevada backpacking destination. This area often has gorgeous sunsets, and the beautiful lake is known for trout fishing. This overnight backpacking trip is easily accessible from Highway 80 and follows parts of the Pacific Crest Trail in the Tahoe National Forest.
You can return via Castle Valley Road (as mapped) or stay on the Pacific Crest Trail if you'd like to avoid vehicles. Castle Valley Road is shared by hikers, bikers, and four-wheel-drive vehicles. There is a trailhead at the end of Castle Valley Road, but many hikers choose to walk because the road requires high clearance and 4WD.
