On this fall day I take the route up to the Tripyramids that begins on the Kancamagus Highway. You can also hike these peaks from a starting point on the Waterville Valley side of the mountains. I chose this side because it is an easier and shorter hike.
Now that this hike is completed, I have only one summit remaining to complete the NH48 and that is Lincoln. Hopefully Husband and I will do that one together next week.

ONE LEFT!!! That's awesome Rachel!! So happy for you! I'm at 13 now and have quite a few to go. Did Garfield, Hale, Zealand and Waumbeck over the last couple weeks and missed seeing the Wandering Soules by just a couple days on their recent hike up Waumbeck. What are the odds that you meet up with them twice while hiking like you have?! That's unbelievable! I always wonder when I'm hiking if I'll be lucky enough see you or them on that day. Love your comment about acting like a moose! 🤣 Good luck with Lincoln. What a great peak to finish on. Will be looking forward to that video. Don't forget to celebrate with your tradition of oat milk and cereal if it's not too windy up there!😃

Good comment. Yeah, cereal. I should do that because we are discussing what to eat and it gets complicated so quickly into the idea list. As for the Soules, that was awesome. I felt like I was not even in reality at that moment they showed up to the summit.

Love the pretty leaves on the ground. Really good advice on parking at or near the trail head and hiking in a mile or so then eat lunch and maybe even a quick nap before you head back

Recently found your channel and I really like it. I’ve binged watched a bunch of your videos. I’m an older woman who is going to try to hike the 4Ks in NH and I love your perspective and how you actually show the trail and describe it. Super helpful. I also just watched your cooking videos and if you want a lighter nonstick frying pan check out the msr quick skillet. It only weighs a little over 6 oz and is aluminum and nonstick. Happy hiking!

Thanks for the wonderful comment. I will check the skillet. It's cool you have noticed aspects of the videos that I have worked on intentionally. Sometimes I watch the older ones to find things I would improve upon if making the same video today. It keeps things fresh and fun to learn and grow.

Yeah, I try to keep it real with the reports and show the area. I think it will be a crazy weekend but we can't let the potential "crowds" keep us away. Just have to spread out or get there before dawn.

After a certain amount of time in wild nature, I feel certain humans are aliens. I'm sure I look a bit crazy to them with my mud and blood dried on my legs, sock tan, sometimes my clothes are still wet from dunking in a stream, shirt on backwards, disheveled hair. And then I've got an entire kitchen fired up and I'm talking to my camera!

Very nice video Rachel. You have such a positive attitude. I thought the boulder section was a real drag, both up and down.

Thank you so much! Ha, ha this makes me smile if you mean you did the slide and didn't love it. I didn't feel like doing the slide trail that day. However if you mean those big rocks, that was alright I guess. Funny how trails can catch us in a different mood on a different day.

Just 1 peak away from completing your 48. Bet you are excited about that (and maybe a little sad the end is near). And what a mountain you have left, Mt Lincoln on that excellent ridge with all the view and colors. Know you’ve been up and down the Bridal Path before. Are you planning to take the Falling Waters way up to get a different perspective? Had debated which way up and down the Tripyramids myself. Ended up taking the Livermore trail to Scar Ridge trail to avoid the north slide. Hit all 3 peaks and went down the south slide on my back side with poles and got some great views. It was a very long (milage) way, but not so bad. Think everyone I ran into did the north slide up. Great you ran into Laura and John again on another trail. Those guys always find unique ways up peaks. Enjoy #48!

I want to do Falling Waters. I think I can handle it now. Getting husband on board is quite the scheduling challenge. Hopefully we will get it done while the leaves are out and before the clouds and rain swallow it all up.
@MikeRyder-ml2mb

You can handle it for sure... you've hiked so many mountains to get to this point. And there are so many places to stop and check out the falls and take a rest. Hopefully your husband can come with you, as it would be great if he can video your #48 summit. @@RachelWhelton Best to you both for a great 48th summit!

Niiiice! I just aw a vid where 2 guys went up Sabbaday Falls- really nice, and would be jammed on a weekend, beautiful pools for swimming I hope- - then went Middle Trypyramid and N. TriPyramid , then down your Pine Bend Trail , with a short, it tedious, Kancamagus Rd. walk back. 11 miles they said.
@RachelWhelton
@RachelWhelton 8 ай бұрын
The Sabbaday Falls area is beautiful. No swimming allowed in the pools or falls. But there are brooks beyond the protected area where you could get a cool down. That loop is often done, I believe. I didn't do it on this trip because I was a little burnt out and wanted the easiest possible route. But on another day I would like to see the trail out of Sabbaday because the forrest back in there is beautiful. The road walk would be alright but the parking at Sabbaday is often overfull.

I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and an early subscriber. Don’t know you but happy for you becoming such a strong and confident hiker . I remember your first (you tube) backpack and how you seemed to struggle a bit. Now your cranking up the big mtns. I’m hoping to go up mooselauke next week myself. I have three left. Too bad you can’t/aren’t taking Millie with you. I saw a mini schnauzer on Osceola once. Sure Millie could do it!
@RachelWhelton
@RachelWhelton Жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! Congrats on the three left for you. It's an awesome feeling as we get to the end. Millie goes full-blast for one mile and then is done, done, done. She also has unsocial barking out of excitement and sometimes decides she is a killer dog. So no way is she coming. But maybe I'll take her on a backpack overnight sometime, just to be with her. She has gotten better at understanding I go hiking once a week but the other days we walk together.

Sometimes I hand off the camera to a hiker who is going to pass me full speed. In this case there was a wonderful dog and very fast lady. So she just held the camera for one segment. Also I have a tripod. But I was solo. Good eye.
