I trail run/hike up to the summit of Mount Pilchuck near Seattle, Washington which features an old abandoned fire lookout that is pretty neat (there's a ladder to access it). It is a really fun (if slightly moist) excursion through beautiful temperate rainforest and up into the classic volcanic/granitic subalpine terrain found across the North Cascades. Even though there is technically a designated trail the whole way, the ascent requires some substantial boulder-hopping and scrambling toward the top. It is a perfect summer day in the Pacific Northwest (no smoke or rain, barely any clouds, sunshine), and the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking. After checking out the lookout, I scramble around the slightly sketchy summit ridge.
Thanks for watching!
