Did this as a youngster, but in the daytime. I was a semi pro athlete then, took me hours to get up there but still rewarding. Been visting the island almost 15 times since that and going there again in 25 days. Propably never going to hit the peak again, but memories still remains.

Thanks yes it was cold, I definitely wasn’t dressed the part but I think it was the excitement and all the photos I could take and take in the views that made it’s feel like a minute now, so not boring at all, the feeling I had when suddenly I realised I was there alone was truly unreal though

Nice video! 😊 i am also looking forward to do this during my visit in july. One thing is still not cleclear to me, i was checking online and could not find much... how is the descent with cable car working if one climbs up before 9am without permit? Do you need to book tickets for the cable car descent in advance or one can do it on top at the station on the day? Thanks 😊
@LondonViewpoints6 ай бұрын
Thanks, yes I booked the cable car with my phone online while I was up there, as was told I cannot just buy it, it was super simple though 👍🏻

I did this back in 2013! Stayed at the refuge and then up at 6am to carry on. Did fall just shy of the very top as was getting short on time and had a massive headache from altitude. May revisit one day :) Seems we have similar passions!
@LondonViewpoints2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know one can just stay overnight at the refuge, that would make things much easier and probably more entertaining for this video, maybe I’ll do that next time and actually make it for sunrise😀 yes it does seem we have similar passions, wish I could do such hikes more often
@ChrisCorkPhotography2 жыл бұрын
@@LondonViewpoints yeah you get a permit included to go to the top. Think it may have been circa £40 from memory

Those views are just mad. Never been above 1600m but i will be in Tenerife end of July to climb the mountain. Planning to a morning climb as well. Sadly, no permits were left. Arnt the rules that if you get off the peak before 9am, you dont need a permit?
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
You need a permit to get off the peak before 9am but these permits are easily available on that same website , sunrise climb or something they’re called , I’d say get it, but indeed many don’t and still do it before 9am
@hughoneill6555 Жыл бұрын
Wow, amazing. I am going in November hopefully its as beautiful as this. Can i ask how you got the permit as the website isnt very clear. And can you pay for the cable car in person or do you have to book? Is there public transport there for an early hike like that? Thanks
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
I know right ? The website is difficult to navigate to say the least not to mention finding the early morning 6-9am permit, but it’s there, maybe try the Spanish version if you can have someone help you with that? You can’t pay for cable car at the top in person but there was WiFi or 4g and I booked it there online on the spot. I don’t think there’s public transport to the top in the middle of the night, best to just hire a car👍🏻good luck
@hughoneill6555 Жыл бұрын
@@LondonViewpoints thanks for that. Figured out the website and all of November ( when I am there is booked up) 😥. And I am only 19 so getting a renal car isn’t really an option for me. The only hope I have now is if I book a tour group for those dates as I see they have some availability still will struggle to get there unfortunately

So glad i found this, I don't really like that you need a permit (none of the tallest and more dangerous peaks in the UK require one), but your tip about the 6am-9am permit is good incase anyone asks. To be honest though i plan to be at the top for around 6am if possible, and relax waiting for the sunrise :D
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
Glad I could help, as another option some hike half way and camp at that refuge point to only do the half just before sunrise👍🏻hope it goes well for you, it’s a great hike and the view from the peak is so worth it
@ricardomendezlopez2413 Жыл бұрын
Does the hike involve proper climbing, or hiking on unmarked path? Curious to know how "dangerous" it is to do at night. Any insights on this much appreciated!
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
No climbing, but at night there was a few moments where if I didn’t have a guide with us, I wouldn’t quite be sure which way to go as the path isn’t all that clearly marked as it’s all volcanic ash, most of it though is fine as long as you have a bright light and it’s not dangerous at all

Hi Michael, thank you for the amazing video! I’m planning to hike mount Teide in 3 weeks. Same as you I would love to reach the summit at sunrise, but as a was looking for the permit, I couldn’t found any which allows you to hike that early. The earliest time window starts at 9am. Can you please tell me where I can apply for the 6-9am permit? Thank you in advance - best wishes😊
@LondonViewpoints Жыл бұрын
I remember looking at that page and first not being able to see it too, then someone looked at the Spanish version of the same page and found it immediately, I think it was somewhere below where the standard permits for after 9am were, somewhere closer to the bottom of the page if I remember well
@pepecapirote74616 ай бұрын
So, how long was the hike from La rambleto the peak? We’re booked to go in June, the permit gives us 2 hours from La rambleta to the top and back. Is this realistic or do we need to walk quickly?
@LondonViewpoints6 ай бұрын
It’s only a short hike but I struggled with a bit of altitude breathing by the time I got to La rambletta so that made me slow down to the top significantly, but 2h should be plenty
