Great video Cody. More on Hikvision would be great. Especially smart detections working with UniFi.

You can't use Hikvision or any other cameras with UniFi, Protect only the cameras from Unifi.

The specs say 2.8mm or 4.0mm lens. Is this manually adjusted on the camera, or is this fixed and you have to specifically order the camera with the desired lens?

One remaining question, what browser or browser extension did you use to get the Hikvision camera settings so easily? What ever I do with my Hikvision DS-2142FWD-i, I need a plugin to view the settings or live image. regards, from the Netherlands

@@MactelecomNetworks That's quit strange, probably a typical model spec. another question popped up: I'm struggling with a firewall rule. I get a result when pinging to the gateway of the Hikvision network (111) But when I try to ping to one of the cameras I do get "destination host unreachable". released and renewed my networks settings and I'm on the main network.

Great video Coddy, recommended you check a Dahua IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED to compare them, to me the Dahua is slightly better but they are very close. Only Hikvision that i want to test is the new 8mp/4k 1/1.2'' cmos censor, Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L ColorVu. If you were to want to test more traditional cameras with night IR (not color cameras), but starlight which are very good low light cameras, check all the Dahuas 5442, for turrets i recommend IPC-T5442TM-AS and for bullets IPC-B5442E-ZE, to me best atm. If you can also start getting into Blue Iris, very good software, although i have abandon it for NxWitness, to me the best NVR software out there. Either would be a great addition to your IP Cameras.

@@MactelecomNetworks well given that networks solution cover pretty wide range of things, i feel IP cameras is a compatible products that some of your clients might end up asking, and even if you dont want to offer it, for your personal house its nice to do you own. I personally recommend more NxWitness than Blue Iris, but both are really good, i just like how Nx is so flexible into running on Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. And runs on very low end hardware like Intel Celeron J5005. Btw i just saw the video again, where you mention you are attaching it to a synology nas, thats also a good option.
