Oi, tudo bom ? Nice and instructional vid. Can I tap into a Hikvision security network (DVR/NVR, couple of cameras and a doorbell) from another network ? I'll have my home own wired/wireless network and would like to connect through my smarthome server to the building's security network in order to access cameras alerts doorbell alerts/video feeds. Is this possible ?

Sure as long as you have some network skills you can use port forwarding or a DMZ to have remote access to your network and do whatever you want. A VPN setup will also get the job done. Just in case you don't have networks skills you can hire some network technician to help you out. The same concepts of Port Forwarding/DMZ or VPN for computers and severs apply for IP cameras and recorders.

You can connect a laptop and the NVR in the same switch (or router) and setup the NVR via a web browser. There's no way to connect a laptop via HDMI to the NVR since the laptop HDMI port is an output to display the laptop image on an external monitor.

It depends, if you purchase a NVR that has WiFi communication, then yes. otherwise you need to connect the NVR via cable.
