8:47 when the bird has a ring, you can find the owner on internet with the number on the ring. I once returned one to its owner, who lived 100 km away. It was the bird first flight

I think they were in London, I read about this in the newspaper a few years or so ago, but forgot where it was. No, I just googled, elsewhere in England, somewhere in Lincolnshire.

8:38 they are predators, they eat aphids, like the cute little green ones. And they bite, I was bitten by one I was saving from drowning

You're calling aphids cute? Come to my house next summer and get all you want from my roses.
@jannetteberends8730
@jannetteberends8730 21 күн бұрын
@@gaileverett I protected my roses with spraying them regularly with horsetail tea. And in spring, with rock flour of lava. Both make the cells of the plant stronger and more difficult for the aphids to get through. It’s also a good leave fertilizer. Combining your roses with plants ants don’t, like lavender, also helps

They eat aphids. Makes them a welcome addition to any garden. If they bite you, stop poking them.
@ulflyng
@ulflyng Ай бұрын
@@Jenifer_R_ well poking doesn't do it. Yup, they are great in gardens. Certain years though they are here in the summer almost swarming like locusts - and then they bite, because of lack of water and food.

Ladybugs (as pictured in the video) do not bite! If you are being bitten by an insect that looks like a ladybug, it’s actually an Asian ladybird beetle. Ladybugs, at this time of year, [October] are already likely to be hibernating and not even present - Asian ladybird beetles, on the other hand, are still very active and visually look like a sweet, innocent summer ladybugs. This imported insect pest was introduced into Canada during the 1970s to help rid farmers' crops of insect pests that would naturally reduce farmers' yields in certain crop types. I read many years ago that the Asian beetles were not meant to survive the Canadian winter...AND the sheer number of these lady beetles suggests they may be contributing to the decline of our native ladybug species by competing for food and through the introduction of diseases.
@ulflyng

@@Colleen...O.Canada... When we had swarms of lady bugs, back then it was our native species. They bite, I was biten several times. One got bitten when one were at a beach or around a habour. They were sitting in piles. And asian lady bug came later

8:38 Oh, they do bite. Although rarely, as they aren't aggressive. Unlike the Asian variety which will actually swarm a person in large numbers, and bite. But all the other ones are beloved around the world, it's often considered lucky to have one land on you, or come into your house for the winter, and so on (just not the Asian ones, they're little assholes).
