From my understanding, the answer is specifically in context of breach of contract, since that's what the question asks for. The money could not be recovered for breach of contract, but could probably be recovered for fraud, or something else

Now hold on. On the subject of the 3k Bob got from Carol, your answer doesn't sound quite right. Bob seems to have represented that the 1.5k was for a herbal concoction. In other words, Carol doesn't know it's for an illegal substance (if it can even be assumed to be illegal; I didn't hear it in the question). Why could Carol not recover the 3k from Bob, assuming the 3k for 3k exchange was agreed on in writing?
