Nuge is just gnarly af... I know Sean Greene has footage bombing all the SF hills but Baxter St is a whole other animal! I've seen that street in person and the video and photos DO NOT do it justice! I know Nuge only did a portion of the street but was still insane! I live in the suburbs around Boston and a street with that grade literally couldnt even exist here lol, it couldnt exist within even 500 miles of here!! But for anyone watching the vid and thinking "it doesnt look THAT bad, I mean, Nuge did it first try," ... I implore you to go there in person!! I wouldnt even ride a bike down that thing lol!

Im from Jersey but was out in Duarte CA a couple years ago. I went out and about from neighborhood to neighborhood. I had put my drone up and saw some high spots with roads and tons of homes. I made my way that way. Up the hills and realized no freaking way am I doing this. Not in this lifetime. I hung out a while and skated through the neighborhoods and tried to find skaters anywhere. I asked around if people skate the street here. They all said yeah right. Now when I make my skateboard film, I am bringing the skaters there. See who has it in them.

California has 7 of the 10 steepest hills in the United States. The steepest is here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania(Steelers country). Canton Avenue, 37% grade and 360ft long. And it's cobblestone. Just go into full iron ankles mode. Literally do not move your ankles at all. Your trucks can't turn unless your weight is shifted to the side or your ankles turn. Keep your weight over the board and keep your ankles super strong, as if they don't even have a joint in them. Another recommendation I've heard is to push down on the board really hard, which probably achieves the same thing (keeping your ankles strong so the board can't move on its own).

Take out two bushings and ride them ultra loose so you can learn at a slower speed. Then just throw the bushings back in and tighten your trucks when you wanna bomb a hill. Before i learnt to push, i was bombing hills in two bushings. Now i have no problems with speed wobbles and can balance them out easy.

Almost wobbled into a car but just balanced them out and they stopped, then did a sharp ass turn into a shit rough street. Use wide wheels no harder than 95a unless you wanna slide like sean greene does!

I actually find that trying to power through and fight a speed wobble can make it worse. I always try and ride em out like a wave....low center of gravity, dead weight yet I keep my ankles somewhat loose to damper the wobble... granted ive only gone 31mph on a regular board on soft cruiser wheels with my German Shepherd 🐺 pulling me.... I’m sure down hillers have a better technique than I do

bombing hills is scary as fuck, but when you make it to the bottom it's such a fucking high. I'm trying to work my courage up to bomb this one near my house. There is one that isn't as long or steep in the main street of my town I can do but it's rough as hell at the intersection at the bottom. I have to aim for a specific spot or else I'm going to most likely eat shit and it's in the oncoming lane.
