Oh, cool, it's neat to see another 4w5! A lot of people seem surprised when they meet me functioning in one type (4 or 5) and then later meet the other type. People who meet me as a 4 get surprised to know how much I love learning and how introverted/logical I can be. The people who meet me as a type 5 tend to have stronger reactions to meeting the 4 side of me: either they're pleasantly surprised or they're REALLY weirded out. Do you have this happen, as well?
@HanyouInnyКүн бұрын
@@ladybaby3 I think people can be a little bit surprised when don’t know me on a personal level when they see how quiet and withdrawn I actually am. When I’m at work I have to put on “work face” so they don’t realize that outside of my job I’m actually quite contemplative and pensive. So I guess that can come as a bit of a shock. And I guess when somebody does get to know me and I start spewing off a bunch of random things that I’m into, that can be a bit of an information overload. I’m not trying overload anyone, I’m just excited to share but I guess it can come across as a bit much if they’re not interested. Otherwise I usually keep to myself or just do what I’m supposed to do because I want to be a good and competent employee. Oh and lastly I think the other thing that can be a bit at odds with each other is my emotion mind and logic mind. Sometimes the things I say are purely literal and logical. But if I have strong feelings about something you can’t rationalize with me.

Some great information in this video. I self identify as a type five, and this rang bells for me. And I wanted to add that depth of focus and perception a 5 brings doesn't just apply to scientific disciplines - a technical, problem solving mindset can be applied just as well to fitness, or gardening or music or whatever. So the intellectual thing is a tendency, habit or behaviour, rather than any specific interest. I'm sure you know this but wanted to add... Also, I have heard that the personality is very fluid until about 30 or 35.So if we type ourselves or another before then, we have too accept that we may change. Does that ring true for you? Thanks for the video!

Hahaha I related to all of these! I think the thing with privacy also has to do with how we view knowledge. We see knowledge and information as a powerful tool, and because of that we are very cautious about what personal information we share with others because what we share could potentially leave us vulnerable to others in some way. That sounds very cynical, but it just makes logical sense to me! As for dressing, a lot of the time I do just dress to not be naked and wear a very minimalist uniform of a black tshirt and jeans. However fashion is one of my interests and so I can enjoy spending time putting together outfits and getting dressed up! However I will usually spend a couple hours in one go in my wardrobe making outfits that I can remember so I can just throw them on if I need to later. I think the minimalist attire has more to do with not wanting to put energy into things we don't find interesting. If we're interested in clothes, we can actually get very into it. A good example of this I think would be the character Beth from The Queens Gambit who I also believe is a 5w4. I would say that after chess, her secondary interest is fashion!

I'm not sure if you planned on this or it just happened, but as a 4w5, I love that you have a computer, desk, and organizers as your background in the Type 5 video, and then you have ambient lighting, pictures, and plants in the Type 4 video. Edit: Oh dear Lord, when you said that 5's want to just grab something out of their closet and go, a piece of my behavior just made sense. I LOVE colorful and extravagant clothes on other people and when I was younger, I would buy unique pieces to wear in my daily wear. The only problem was I hate having to take time to put outfits together. I've learned that I have to buy pieces (usually tops) that are just quirky enough in pattern, color, or style to make my outfit interesting, but not crazy enough to where it's hard to pair that piece with other items. Also, comfort is a major thing for me. I used to buy items that were slightly uncomfortable because of "pretty," but now if I try something on and it feels the least bit funky...nope, I'm not buying it. I even fluctuate throughout the month on how comfortable I want to be. For instance, today I woke up and thought, "I want to feel like I'm in pajamas," so I put on some stretchy palazzo pants, ballet flats, and a soft tunic top. Even though I'm in mostly the color black today, my pants have a pretty pattern of flowers and vines, and the top has a mesh ruffle at the bottom that adds a little bit of flair. Cute but comfortable. Never thought that would have something to do with my Enn. but here we are. Thanks for the new knowledge! I love learning something new. 😁

This week, I listened to Elon Musk on clubhouse, and he goes on a little bit about his life growing up, and it felt like a glimpse into the making of a 5. Then he went on to hijack the interview by bringing on his own guest to interview, Vlad Tenev of Robinhood, potentially another 5, but one who seems less secure in himself than Elon Musk is. I’ve also seen some fascinating arguments that Einstein may have been a type 9! That is definitely an interesting rabbit hole, and I don’t know what to think there!

Also, i learnt how to socialise growing up as a necessity and studied psychology to understand myself and others around me. I think that's the most type 5 thing to ever do. :p

It’s MEEEE! I was sure I was a 5 but lately I’ve been wondering if I’m actually a 1, but watching this confirmed it. The point about getting really focused and hate interruptions really hit me - this happens to me at work, when someone asks to have a meeting while I’m working on tasks my brain is scattered and I’m kind of harsh/cold because I can’t switch focus. I have to sort of “close” one thought/focus before I can move to the next.

My partner is a 5 and I giggled when you mentioned them wearing the same clothes almost every day. So true. She doesn't really value privacy though. Her focus is so deep when she's into something that we could throw a party around her and she wouldn't even know.

I'm 100% sure I'm a type 5 but I've never really understood this concept of "energy" when it comes to being around other people or being alone. In classic type 5 fashion it's frustrating to find a concept so impenetrable and I overthink EVERYTHING so I'm sure I'm overthinking energy as well but if anyone with a less chaotic brain can help me unpack it it would be much appreciated!

This is so relatable! I absolutely love documentaries (especially about medicine or history). I actually didn't really understand because I really do need to understand before I can do anything. Like I think everything is interesting to understand, I love every topic from history to technical stuff to (my favorite) biology. I am really swinging between the 4 or 5 but this really hits home because this is basically everything I've always been struggling with since I was small. I also get really bored when things are intellectually not challenging and I usually go to a 7 (avoiding responsibility and only wanting to do 'fun' stuff). I really need to think about this more. 🤔😂thnx for the vid

Ok , i just recently found out about this enneagram stuff, so i took an online test. It indicated i was a 5, with a big ol wedge for 9. I have been a software developer for over 30 years, i do like science, tech, superheroes, etc. One thing is, it is not that your friends come to you with problems, as you may not have any friends. Your coworkers certainly will. I think a 5 can be a loner type, although he is smart enough to be sociable, it is just not a priority to be a socialte. And i do not think anyone can imagine what goes on in his head. He is often told he does not make sense, he has no depth, he is not known, etc. The world does not understand him, and can be cruel to him, except, of course, when it needs him. And the resourceful innovator thT he is, he will usually come to the rescue.

5w4 here (probably sx/so, though the jury's still out on that one) and INTJ. The famous type 5s I resonate most with are Jane Austen and Friedrich Nietzsche, though I don't necessarily agree with everything either of them says. I'm also very much not a fan of Elon Musk. I'm also not a typical 5 because I get bored with math and I've never been interested in computers or programming. I do want to learn why things work and I've always asked "why" way too much and gotten into so much trouble in both school and church growing up. I like to be challenged in my thinking and have my assumptions questioned, especially if they're not logically or factually sound. With small talk, I've always enjoyed making a bit of a game from it. I like trying to see how well I can direct the "small talk" conversation into something that I'm interested in, without the other people catching on. For an easy thing, get people talking about their pets, if they have any. It's honestly much more tolerable than talking about the weather or whatnot and I've found that most people like talking about their pets.
